Yes he is fantastic, shame he doesn’t want to move to America (or Japan) permanently would be a real asset in any promotion.
Considering how WWE once used him on the main brand, that’s a good thing. Not sure where he goes from here though.

Couldn't help but cringe at the way the commentary team were trying to overplay the Becky & Brock returns, it definitely felt like trying too hard, due to Punk's reception on Friday.

I'm definitely on the more casual side when it comes to fans, but I've found myself keeping up with AEW recently now that crowds are back, but I just can't bring myself to be interested in the WWE stuff.

I can't cringe at the commentary selling the returns of what's probably their 2 biggest attractions, it's literally their job.

The timings of their returns however....

The timing made sense for me, Summerslam is a big show. The commentary was genuinely embarrassing, particularly for the Brock return, the one who isn't Michael Cole talking about "how honoured and privileged he is to be here" when he must have called several Brock Lesnar returns by now.

Well duh.

She sucker punched Bianca and was talking shit to the crowd after she won. It's better that she's heel, try a new direction with character.

They already tried it and it was completely rejected, leading to her becoming the biggest babyface in the company. Good luck trying again

It was rejected because they also tried to make Charlotte the poor victim in that story. She's not a likeable character. Bianca is.

Lynch will get cheered regardless of who she is against. Being away for a long time to become a mother isnt going to help to change that either. Becky got cheered against Ronda too, which is why she fell out with the fans and hasnt come back

Daniel Bryan became a heel after his return.. It is possible for immensely popular wrestlers to become heels.

Was a damn good one and believable too.

I don't think anyone is above becoming heel, if anything the more popular you are the easier it is no?

I see lynch as more a tweener than heel/face for what it's worth.

So long NXT. It great while it lasted. They had the greatest run of PPVs that any promotion had ever produced and it came to an end tonight with a very good TakeOver. Thank you Vince McMahon for destroying NXT.

Surely they aren't just going to get rid of it? Its the one thing WWE has that isn't complete and utter shite

Sounds like they're going back to it being developmental, except (at least according to reports) it'll be full of green trainees rather than actual, seasoned wrestlers.

Summerslam...... that was 4 hours of my life I wont get back. How many more times is the shit, ginger Scot Steiner wannabe going to come back. Thank feck for AEW. In 13 minutes punk entertained more than anything wwe has done in 6 years. As for vinces wanky t shirt trying to rip the piss out of the aew one? One has already become a cult classic and is eminently collectable, one is yet another blind stab by an out of touch old twat.

Also, just when I think I cant hate the ginger roid freak any more he comes out with that fecking ridiculous hair

He cheated to win the title, he didnt win clean over the babyface in a squash.

They turned Steve Austin heel too. Both he and Bryan lost their reactions rather than getting bad ones. Fans dont want to boo the faces they picked themselves

They need to get their act together with the main brand if they're going to do that, which they won't.

The story telling on nxt is levels above raw or smackdown...and it's not like it's amazing, it just, actually exists.

Apart from Reigns I can't even work out who the heels or faces are on the main shows, or who is supposedly feuding with who. On nxt basically every match at takeover had a decent feud or backstory to it. Summerslam...I dunno. Edge Vs Rollins sort of had a story, in that they lazily tacked one on based on something that happened years ago, and even then there was no reason to care who won.

Im not sure what your point is, because you seem to be contradicting where you’ve said that they can’t turn Becky (somebody very popular) into a heel, by providing further examples where they’ve done it in the past.

Becky won clean in that she didn’t hear, yes, but she acted heelish didn’t she, she hit bianca with a sucker punch after offering a handshake. They could easily turn that into the start of a heel turn

They are examples of turning people who were their most popular babyface heel and doing worse business than if they had been face. Its called a mistake

If certain people are to be believed, it looks as if they're gearing up to sell, so I don't think they care too much about any part of the product.

I dropped wrestling for the best part of a year over the pandemic and have recently picked up AEW. I've tried to watch WWE as well but the difference in quality is so big I can't be arsed with WWE until I actually hear they're doing something good again.

I think it’s harsh calling the Bryan heel turn a mistake. Some of his best work post return was as the planets champ

Guarantee Vince will put her against Carmella this week and then wonder why she get's cheered  :wenger:

Good rating for Rampage on Friday. Interested to see what Dynamite gets as its the first advertised show for Punk. And its not a friday night.

His turn helped put over Kofis big win at WM. Bryan was great during the feud.

But at the same time, Edges return, they didnt know how to make him a good guy, and ended up having to try and turn him. And then add Bryan so they could have a good guy. And even then Edge wasnt getting fully boo'd so he then returns as a face

Turning Becky heel would be a mistake as there isnt a female more popular than her.

Takeover was great. Walter only just turned 34. Thats mad. If WWE werent so terrible, him vs Brock would be some match up. Hes had an amazing run.

Hopefully Adam Cole is leaving WWE and going to his friends and wife.

Joe won the title. But he beat somebody who lost to Hardy and Keith Lee, so yeah, kinda spoilt that. But Kross whole presentation is ruined without Scarlett. Dont understand the thinking there.

Also, I still dont see Raquel Gonzalez as this big superstar that some do. And shes 30, so its not like shes 22 and you can build a division around her (if and when shes ever promoted).

He should have been the biggest babyface we've seen in many years with his ordeal of trying to clear himself just so he can come back to wrestle. Its hard to screw it up... Instead of everyone tuning in to see something many years in the making, we had low ratings and instead of being the main babyface chasing the title we had him as heel champ.

Just to be clear, the heel's job is to make the babyface. To get them over, to make them look good in the match. So the entire point of the heel is to make that superstar babyface that everyone wants to pay to come and see in person. So when you take a guy with a very straight shot at being exactly that and then make him the heel, the only way its positive is if he then made an even bigger babyface than he would have been. So who was the bigger babyface than Daniel Bryan who everyone wanted to pay to come and see?

Becky Lynch. Not someone to do with Daniel Bryan

WWE can't make babyfaces, they haven't made a main event babyface bar McIntyre since Batista?

They certainly didn't make Bryan first time as they wanted him as a heel with the wyatt Family and Becky was a happy accident for them

So like he did for Kofi at Wrestlemania 2019?
That was the big pay off. Bryan already had his big payoff in 2014.

I know it's cool to shit on WWE at every opportunity. But they churn out enough shit for us to moan about without us having to go back and rewrite history and paint the decent stuff (Heel Bryan leading to KofiMania) as shit as well, don't they?

Yup ,Bryan was great for Kofi. I mean it was a bit of a happy accident for WWE with Mustafa Alis injury, but Bryan was an excellent heel that helped get Kofimania over, especially during the match. It was a great WM moment. (probably the moment of that WM over Seth beating Brock and Becky 2 belts)

Besides the biggest face should have been Roman coming back from Cancer
And Edge coming back from his injury too.

But that lead to heel turns (though Roman is doing the best work of his career)

Michael Coles reaction to Becky was pathetic. He always ruins moments like that with his cringey announcing. Never liked him anyway but he just grates on me these days.

What the feck is with Karrion Kross now too? Why has he suddenly become an S&M power ranger? That outfit they put him in is awful. Its like they have to revamp every star that comes up from nxt even if they have already got a decent gimmick.
