This was the greatest football game in the Universe

The best football game ever was PES4 in my opinion.

Fifa '99 was also great.

Apart from FIFA 98 Road to World Cup, all the other games on here are shit.

Actua Soccer gave me a fecking headache

This was the greatest (and perhaps only) goalkeeping simulator ever:

My first ever footie game,

Twas on the snes.

I remember that, was pretty difficult against the top teams. Had it on Amiga though.

Nobody mentioned the Kick Off games yet? They were ace before Sensi came out.

SWOS is easily the best though, still as good now as it was then.

there was a soccer game... i cant remember what it was called but once you got within shooting distance it switched to a view form behidn the attacking player to have the shot.

This is Football was awesome fun as well... i mean.. diving, should be in every game.

"soccer" on the gameboy by Tonkin House was wicked and better then any mobile phone football game yet.

By far the best. Everyone who disagrees is a filthy whore.

Not the best but the first game in which i remember being able to dive. There were specific players for each position. Striker had a flame shot, Curler could well curl a ball, Barger was a fat arse defender and Cheater who dived all over the shop.

My favourite was International Superstar Soccer DELUXE

ah Fever Pitch, thats what I was thinking of before not Ultimate Soccer

Didn't you have to start in division 4 with some utter shite team on that?

yeah but it was dead easy. you could win the fa cup from div 4 and doubles all the way until you got to the top - kinda more fun doing that

Gonna Throw a few curve balls in.

Libero Grande 2

FIFA 99. End of.

In terms of fun, then Kickoff 2, Microprose Soccer/Sensible Soccer, end of.

An interesting debate would be arcade vs. simulation. It's the same however for racing games, I think that it's down to personal opinion and that both have their place. In the case of many sports games though, I think that they are becoming too much simulation, which is different to the racing genre where the vast majority of games are still classic arcade fun types.

fifa 98,

used to love tackling the keeper and scoring from his attempted kick out

also had an EA Football game for the PC, I think it was in 97, I playd with the EA Allstars, quality striker, Hans Van Smeiter, Awesome

I'd forgot all about Microprose Soccer, might have a root round and try and find the disk for it, seem to remember it was pretty good.
