He isn't the complete forward but it depends on what you measure, is it goals or overall contribution?</strong><hr></blockquote>

I don't think anyone wants to mention him

No he doesn't. He hasn't had it for almost a year. I watch Serie A very closely. He is certainly not the player I saw @ Fiorentina.

Owen is an awesome talent. Can't understand why he is under-rated by even the British themselves. Henry is also a very good player, but he is not a natural finisher yet. While every time when Owen ran to a through pass there seems to be only one result. Also Owen can do just everything Henry can: score with both feet, score from close range or long range, and also by header (out-jump even Henning Berg to head in the goal against Blackburn). In fact after Ronaldo I haven't seen any striker can be nearly as good as Owen when at the age of 21.

Anybody see his quality goal against Boro?
Nothing to do with pace, was quality passing, quality first touch and bang in the back of the net from way out. One trick pony my arse.

I think Michael Owen is better because if you compare their performance in the FA cup final, the only time both players have played in the same match at a neutral venue and for such a big prize...Owen got 2 chances 2 goals, henry buckled under the pressure...

Question 1: How many more goals has Henry scored than Owen this season? Sorry to ask, but I've lost count.

Question 2: Apparently one of these two strikers has proven his abilities at the very highest level by winning both the World Cup and the Euro 2000. Could you please remind me which one it is - I've got a vague suspicion it was the French chap.

One final question: will Henry do the impossible this season and score 50 goals in all competitions? He's on track to do it, having already scored 21 goals for Arse. No point asking that question about the other chap (Owen) as 50 goals in a season is clearly beyond him.

I think Henry did score one or two more, but it is surely not big gap.

Henry won both the world cup and euro2000. Very probably if we put Owen in the same French team the result will be the same. But anyway, its a very silly way to determine who is the best by this way. Otherwise Henry must be 10 times better than Shevencheko, who hasn't even appear in a World Cup final before.

You don't really expect anyone to answer your final question, right? Because it seems you are just talking to yourself.

Jens - I think you'll find that Owen has scored 27 in his last 25 appearances.

Look at the shots to goals ratio aswell... very interesting reading. :)

According to F365, the figures for this season are:

1. Henry - 21 goals for Arsenal

2. Owen - 14 goals for Liverpool

So Henry's ahead of Owen by a mere 33% so far this season.

Let's be frank about this discussion. One of these two strikers is better, and it definitely ain't Owen. Owen is certainly a better finisher than Henry. But Henry is so much more creative than Owen, and sets up so many more chances for himself and others than Owen, that he outperforms Owen by a country mile when it comes to the most critical factor: the number of goals scored.

BTW, I made the point about Henry winning the World Cup and EC because some twit called SeVen posted a message implying that Henry buckles under pressure. I don't agree with SeVen. Henry's composure in front of goal is amazing. And incidentally, strikers don't often win little events like the World Cup and the EC if they're prone to buckling under pressure.

Face facts lads, Henry has a set of skills and a record of performance that probably makes Owen green with envy.

End of argument.

"He outperforms Owen by a country mile when it comes to the most critical factor: the number of goals scored. " - Are you sure?

The totals do not include international goals (which some people might say are harder to score than premiership ones).

Also it's nice that you are so concerned about how bad Owen is - I think most Liverpool fans do not mind the lack (according to you) of scoring ability and the embarrassing lack of skills.

Yes you are right - he is shite. And he deserves the slagging off you have given him. Can't believe everyone else hasn't realised how useless he is.

I'm sure Owen agrees and is cursing himself that he is so crap. He he hasn't even won a World Cup for god's sake!

manxmania - don't get so worried over whether Owen is better than Henry - it's not so important in the grand scheme of things.

See the way he faked out the Ipswich goalie on Sunday? .... Cocked his foot back, paused, Goalie goes to ground, Henry chip's him..... Class.

Jens didn't like Henry a few months ago now all of a sudden he's the best  JEns also doesn't like Liverpool or Liverpool players so he will always be biast against them (i.e the stats he gave at the start of the thread)

Henry is a very good player, wasteful at times but can't knock him at the mo. Owen is a better finisher though.

IMO Vieri is the best in the World when fully fit. Followed by Owen, Sheva, Henry, ROnaldo and Crespo in no particulr order. Sheva could be the best but I think his major flaw is he is very selfish.
