We'll see what the script is at the end of their careers and judge them then..

Henry: WC and EC winner.
Owen: Scored a nice goal against the Argies.

In all seriousness they will both go down as great strikers imo. Who wins what more often is immaterial. They both have the skills to be considered among the best of their time.

Yeah, but Micky has to play with the England team - mind you, once we get rid of the dead wood (the likes of Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Andrew Cole and Paul Scholes) then England should fare a lot better..

Micky is a UEFA cup winner, a FA cup winner and a Worthington Cup winner, he also has won the European Super Cup and has one Charity Shield under his belt. Not bad for a young 'un..

Also, Henry is 24, so Micky has 3 years to catch up.. ;)

I'll be waiting to see how MO fares thi summer. I hope he doesn't fall 2 WC behind though.

Henry is in a diifernt class from Owen. Meaning his about 10 times better.

It's a good comparison, both players are great strikers. Too close to call who's the best at this early stage. We'll see who scores the most goals at the end of the season.

Here's another tough call, Keane or Vieira?

Both are very competitive and have great engines. I think Vieira has that extra bit of class though.

Better than an in form Ronaldo?

Nah, it's got to be Schevchenko.

Sheva is great, but Vieri is the complete player: incredibly fast, strong, and deadly. Too injury prone though.

I doubt we will ever see a in-form Ronaldo, like he was pre '98, again.

I agree - just look at the three goals he scored Vs Ipswich. First one a good run and header. Second one a superb volley and the third one he used his pace and then had the skill and confidence to go around the goalie. The complete striker.

Yeah probably not, it's such a shame he's had terrible injuries.
What a talent.

Agreed. You don't fully recover from a 3 year injury... it takes months to gain the fitness, and probably years to gain the confidence.

I see you'll laugh to everything :o

A fully fit and on form Ronaldo is the best by a way still.
Maybe he won't be the same, but the question was asked if they were fully fit.
If he stays fit and recovers the pace he'll be great, just in time for Japan.

Morientes is crap. Real have been wanting to offload him for ages.
Claudio Lopez is crap. Ask any Lazio fans here whether they'd want him or Vieri in a team.
Crespo is a great player, but not as good as a fully fit Vieri. His price is around $10 million less
Alfonso Perez- Huh???
Rivaldo-World class, but more a midfield player.
Totti- Ibid
Batistuta- Too old. His days are past him. And Vieri would have put away those 2 chances Bati had against LFC.

I doubt he'll regain his form in 6 months after a 3 year injury. I can't see that happening.

Morientes ain't crap, nor is Lopez
Crespo i would say is the best on the list.
Alfonso is a spanish international player and a striker for Barca
Rivaldo is officially a striker
Totti is great ;)
Bati well Bati ain't got much to say about him execept that even at this a age his still one of the worlds best strikers and much better then Vieri <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

You don't watch much football do you.
What the feck has Lopez done @ Lazio in two years?
And why does Real Madrid want to offload Morientes if he was a world class player? They've been dying to get Sheva...
Alfonso... if he was so good he'd get a game. Saviola and Kluivert are better.
Rivaldo is world class.
Totti hasn't proved anything yet.
Bati is too old.

One thing that can be taken into consideration is that Liverpool have taylored the system to fit Owen. Doubt he would be as succesful anywhere else where the team doesn't adapt the game around one player.

Eh, England?

Well, England play about 3 or 4 games / year. And do back down and hit on the counter attack. 3 or 4 counter attacking goals against germany was it?

He is one dimensional has to be said, think there are more complete strikers available.

That's true, but Owen is still a very good striker - his record speak for himself.

It is true though, you play appalling defensive football, hell, you even play heskey so that it suits Owen.

Yeah, not saying he is shi*e in anyway, onlything I said was that I do not think he is the best around. It is a matter of taste though.

They don't play defensively - the world and his wife is wrong about that one..... ;)

So if Owen was in a very attacking side like Real for instance. Do you not think he would score plenty of goals?
I do, especially considering they would create many chances for him?

Owen only needs one chance and he usually scores, you can't take that away from the lad.

Yeah, it would be interesting alright to see him in another team. It is likely that he would score a few but most of his goals has to do with him utilizing his pace. Rightly so, it is his main strength. The fact that he only needs one chance is a new feature this year, last year he wasn't as accurate in his finishing. It remains to be seen if it is temporary or not.

As I said previously, I do not deny that he is a excellent player, but people were talking about the best striker in the world earlier in this thread and I do not think he is there yet.

You may laugh but no one has mentioned Hasslebank. He has been the top scorer in what ever league he has been in for the last 3 seasons.

He isn't the complete forward but it depends on what you measure, is it goals or overall contribution?
