Thiago Silva to PSG

Being reported in L'Equipe today, that the deal is very close

This is perhaps one of the most sensational transfers of the summer now that winds: the Brazilian international Thiago Silva, considered one of the best central defenders in the world, now appears close to an agreement with PSG. In the entourage of the shareholder Qatar, considering that the player of AC Milan could even be announced at PSG on Wednesday, opening day of the transfer market. Its value is estimated between 40 and 50 million euros. If his coming was confirmed, Thiago Silva would be the second rookie PSG after Ezequiel Lavezzi , the Argentine midfielder of Naples. - JT

Now here's a team that obviously doesn't care about the FFP.

Interesting, seems like Ancelotti is using his knowledge of the Serie A to get the players in. Pastore/Motta/Lavezzi/Silva all class players that will move/have moved to PSG.

Its not really knowledge though is it. All of these are high profile players from Serie A that even people who dont really pay attention to it will have heard of. What he's using is the huge respect he has in Serie A. These players want to come and pay for him and the money, really, really, really helps.

Paris is a great place to live so I imagine that with reasonable success on football field they will soon become one of the best places to go in Europe. The league is still not as good as English, Spanish, German or Italian but then again it means you'll likely win the title each year and compete for Champions League.

Indeed, that's what i meant, just didn't word it correctly. He was the one who actually signed Silva for Milan when he was still there so that helped also.

Oh ok then. Yeah, Pato wanted to follow him as well when he went to Chelsea and although he's fallen way short of what he used to play like, he might join up with him at PSG as well.

Seems like PSG pretty much have the pick of players from Serie A with their financial backing and Ancelotti there.

Didn't psg practically sign lavezzi as well? Theyre going to have some team there.

It's a shite league, on par with the Portuguese league (maybe worse ?) and there is no prestige in winning Ligue 1 or playing for PSG. Terrible decision from Silva if true.

Edit : lequipe are not that reliable, Pato was a done deal according to them too. I think it's BS.

Yep, Ancelotti at the helm is a big plus.

Money talking again but am just glad it isnt City if am honest. Him and Kompany would have been brilliant.

Is this only me or has there, was there a similar thread before? Deja vu?

Are Milan financially fecked or what?
Why would they sell one of worlds best defenders even for 40m euros when he has two three years at peak.

Very good that he isn't apparently joining City - which begs the question what City will actually do in this window given the Hazard situation as well; City must be planning to burn several £100m somewhere?

They are not financially fecked. However the times when Berlusconi used to sign blank cheques is long over. AC Milan has just released 3 players who needs replacing. The Thiago deal will allow that to happen. I always thought that Pato was the one to be shown the door though.

They have let go of Nesta and now seemingly selling Silva. Aren't they the first choice central defenders for Milan. Agree with you regards to Pato, I also think Robinho is a luxury player for them.

Pato wouldnt get bids close to 40mil though. If its about getting a huge part of the wage bill off their payroll and getting in good amount of cash to rebuild the team, it makes sense.

I really don't see where else citeh would need to improve on. They seem to have a team thats settling in quite nicely and is Thiago Silva REALLY that much better than anybody they have on the books right now? The two forehead brothers really struck up a nice partnership over the season and its not like they can realistically keep everyone happy if they keep adding to their back four.

40 mill is an excellent deal for him. I'd snap their hand off if they offered that for Vidic, let alone Thiago Silva.

What is done with the 40mil is whats important. Snapping their hands of at 40mil for Vidic wont be the best of ideas if it isnt put back into the team again and set off for the banks.

I'm sure Milan will find a decent enough replacement. They may look to someone like Martinez for 25 million. That'd be a good bit of business if you ask me.

Nesta played 25+ games last season which makes him a regular. However it seems that he wasn't going to be guaranteed first team football, next season and had therefore decided to leave (Many suspect that it was more the case of not being granted a new 2 yr contract). As I said before the time when AC Milan could outbid anyone for players is over. They have to work on a tight budget and its going to be tough to replace so many players without selling anyone.

Honestly I thought that Pato would have been next in line. PSG had been courting him for months and had offered 35m euros for him. However it could be the case that PSG have finally came back to their senses and decided to target someone else (our Berba maybe?) or it could be more the case that since Pato is dating Barbara Berlusconi (the owner's daughter), Milan had decided to keep such great 'asset' close to home.

I would also be surprised if Robinho remained with Milan for another season.

Paris is the largest city in Europe in terms of area, London is second.

Yeah, but given the context of his comment area has no importance whatsoever. Population does. And there London is the largest. Actually it might be Moscow, I forget.

Am pretty sure they'l get someone good in myself. Was referring to us selling Vidic for 40mil. Its great money for a CB but i wouldnt be sure we'd invest it again.

A step backwards if true. Pity as he was a great player, but will now be playing in a pretty poor league.

He'd be perfect for Barcelona, but I'm also interested in PSG's project.

What is it with everybody and his uncle using the term project? Because Hazard said it?

Great bit of business from PSG if they get Silva. Be interesting to have another major player on the scene and hilarious if they are doing to City what City do to us.

Depends if you're talking about Metropolitan Area or Urban Area. Moscow and Istanbul have a higher population than London depending on what you consider a city to encompass.
