AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has admitted to speaking with European champions Barcelona about a possible move to the Camp Nou.

Thiago Silva is rated as one of the best defenders of his age in world football
Thiago, who recently signed a new long-term contract and earlier this week claimed he would like to finish his career at the San Siro in Italy, now admits he is open to a switch to Spain.

"I have had contact with people from Barca,'' the Brazilian told TV Esporte Interativo in his homeland, but also said he recognised any deal depends on the two clubs reaching an agreement.

"It's a really cool thing to be able to talk to them (but) now, I'm at Milan. It's been just two or three months since I renewed my contract, to the end of 2016, so they would have to speak directly with the club.''

ffs

Oh feck. I rate him.

Just what we need, Barca strengthening they're weakest part of the team.

He didn't say they are though.

If he has had talks with Barca that would surely mean one of two things.

Firstly that Milan have given him permission to speak to Barca with a view to doing a deal. That would indicate that they are willing to let him go.

The second scenario would be that he (and/or his representatives) has had talks with another football club without the consent of the club to which he is contracted. Which would be a breach of something or other.

kinell....fecking superb CB. WORLD CLARSE.

it really is a blaugrana world, we just live in it. The future is bright. The future is blaugrana.

Surely a deal would be in excess of 40m?

Strange partner for Pique though I'd feel.

Thiago Silva 'Barca words distorted'

Thiago Silva’s agent has reassured supporters “he is very happy at Milan and his words were distorted” regarding talks with Barcelona.
The fans were stunned when stories emerged from Brazil that he had told TV Esporte Interativo he was in negotiations with the Nou Camp side.

“I want to calm everyone straight away,” agent Paulo Tonietto told Calciomercatoweb and the official Milan website.

“His words were distorted and came from his answer to a question that was badly interpreted by the interviewer and newspapers.

“Thiago Silva is very happy at Milan and only recently renewed his contract. If he did not intend to respect it, he wouldn’t have renewed to 2016.

“Besides, at this moment he is probably the most expensive player in the world. There is absolutely nothing in this story.

“His only thoughts are for the Copa America this summer, then winning the Champions League with Milan. It won’t be easy, but it is an important objective for the whole team.”

Can't say I'm not a little jealous. Improvement over Puyol short-term, very useful long-term and it's a ridiculously good centre back-pairing in terms of bringing it out of the defence.

Would surely cost a huge amount though.

EDIT: Rumours.

He'd be a great signing for them, but I can't see it happening. On an unrelated matter, he's also fecking amazing on FIFA.

Don't be jealous.

Vidic, Rio, Smalling, Jones...Evans.

We're sorted back there, for the next 10 years potentially.

Indeed, we're well ahead of them in terms of centre backs but then that's the thing...they've lacked an unquestionably top class defender IMO, the only position goalkeeper aside in which they do, he would give them that and make them an even better footballing side.

I can't see it making much difference based on the last couple of years...the way the midfield keep that ball it isn't like they're tested much!

Again very true! Still though, there was always the feeling that you could get at them with pace, whether through exploiting their high line - like we saw with Arsenal, for example - or just taking their centre backs head on for pace with runs from deep - as we saw with Hercules, for example - but Thiago Silva has pace in abundance (along with his many other talents) and would make it even harder to find a weakness in their team.

Thankfully it doesn't seem likely!

??????????????

Somewhat surprised by this thread, I didn't think Milan had any good players anymore

How longs he been at Milan? Did he play against Spurs earlier this season?

If Milan played him at CB instead of DM against Spurs, they wouldn't have conceded imo

He's class...so i really hope Milan aren't stupid enough to sell him, especially to Barca who are already ridiculously good.

If they want him, they will get him I guess. Him and Kompany would be every bit as good as anything we could field in our defence. Clichy has done well for them and Richards is a good full back as well, with Thiago their defence would look top class. :nervous:

:nervous:

Don't think Milan will let him go, unless there is serious cash offered.. by that i mean 50m

City can basically pay whatever Milan ask for, and I don't think it will take much more than £30m to get Milan to agree to sell.
