Thiago Motta | Sacked

No surprise there. They spent 200 million Euros last summer, and they haven't moved an inch forward. In half of their league games, they've either failed to score or scored just once. In the last couple of games, they looked completely broken.
They have essentially switched off as players.

Does make me laugh looking back at this thread and people hailing Motta as the saviour of Juve when he was appointed.
Reminds me of that time when Marcus Rose was hailed as the best manager ever on here...

They have essentially switched off as players.

Probably threw the towel in, i guess, if something else didn't occur behind the scenes. It happens, sometimes things just don't work out as planned. The pressure of high expectations at Juventus is unlike anything else in the Serie A for both the players and the manager. They have been poor all season. Going out to PSV in Europe and to Empoli in the Coppa Italia within a week deemed the season irredeemable for them.

Surprised how badly it went there for him, he really did work miracles at Bologna over the last couple of years - and he'd have been at the top of the list of names I'd have wanted us to go for in the summer, but they've been able to stay at about the same level without him and he's got Juve nowhere.

Cases like this and Potter at Chelsea show us that the skills required to punch above your weight with a smaller club are probably different to those you need to turn an underperforming unwieldy goliath like us or Juventus around. It's something to consider when the shouts for current flavour of the month (maybe Iraola now) flare up.

I can see why they done it, their last two games have been awful, also Juve have dropped far too many points from winning positions (17), combined with an early exit from the champions league. Even saying that with their remaining games I would have backed Motta to get them top 4, they won 5 on the spin before those back to back defeats.

That’s a mistake from Juve, he is a quality coach and they should have backed him.

A very similar position to United. After years of underperforming, they should have backed a top young coach to instill an identity over time, and not given in to average players having any sort of player power. We did it for too many years.

He will land on his feet and prove himself, but I am not sure about them. I don’t think they are going anywhere fast and have made another mistake here.

I'm sure he's good but he's a very specific and acquired taste. Maybe similar to Amorim on a lesser level.

Nope, he is just a shit coach like Pirlo before him. Many of these ex players think that it will be easy for them to become coaches just because they "know" the game..but to be a coach let alone a good one it needs so many more qualities that these guys simply don't possess..

This sounds like an over-simplification.

How did he do so well at Bologna?

Looking at the stats; they’re actually doing slightly better without him this season. Did he just inherent a good structure behind him? (Genuine question - I don’t watch or keep up with Serie A)

Tough to tell, perhaps. I wonder what the root cause at Juve really was

I didn't like Juventus having a flash young manager. They're supposed to be the Old Lady, wrinkled and wily.

When Tudor goes, I hope they get a proper coach in. One with big bushy eyebrows and opinions about Wagner. The world will feel a little more like it should, and maybe United can start winning things again. Or having more than 12 senior players available on a given matchday.

Damn he looked promising at Bologna. Some coaches just can't make that next step up.

I had a look at Juve’s In’s and Out’s this season, they seem to have a habit of letting defenders leave who then get big demand from the PL.

Huijsen and De Winter this year. Past seasons; Dragusin, Romero, think there was a
Turkish guy.

Merih Demiral?

They also spent big money on Douglas Luiz and he barely plays, not sure what’s gone wrong there.

That was just a traditional Juve FFP dodging accountancy gimmick swap deal with no basis in actual football. Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling went the other way and haven't had a kick for Villa either.

Yes, Bologna are a very well run club from ownership to management, with one of the best sports directors in Italy. They also hired one of the best coaches in Italy to replace Motta, so it's not like it's all down to the players/directors either

Juventus are a bit of a mess. New director wanting to put his stamp on the team, mission from the ownership to cut costs and make the club profitable(or at least stop losing money) while still being competitive in terms of results, the Allegri situation last year, attempts at promoting a youth movement, attempts at a cultural change which the fanbase keeps rejecting....

Motta didn't help himself, but I think more than anything the problem was a lack of experience on his part.

Juventus need to figure out what they want to be and do and then make that clear to the fans, and then stick to it through adversity, which they seem incapable of doing

How good is Yildiz? Im not sure how legit our links to him are but he might be get-able amongst the chaos.
