Thiago Motta | Juventus Manager

Yes and their board have really, really wanted Guardiola for years. Someone like Motta can either give them the success and type of football they demand or bridge the gap until a window opens up for them to get Pep
oh c'mon why someone like Pep would ever consider joining Juventus.
I honestly see him retiring after City

I mean Italy is the next step in his speed run to dominate Europe. If Juve gets back to the top, why not? People say the big five leagues but it's more the big 4 (Italy, Spain, England, Germany). Maybe he'll go to PSG at some point and get them a CL but I doubt it.

Ouch, coming from juve fan. I agree though, after City he'll either go to a NT or some director role at city group, basically siphoning that Saudi money for life. He won't take any more risks.

Hope he gets them playing well again. Interesting appointment...

He expressed desire to go to Italy in the past, as he was already there as a player. He loves the lifestyle and culture of Italy.

And Juventus is the only club in Italy that could give him what he needs and deserves.

I have no idea why people assume Guardiola is going to retire or go to Saudi anytime soon. He loves football, he's still young for a coach and he always comes up with new ideas which he wants to test. He'll probably continue to coach at elite level deep into 2030s. In fact, I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up at Juventus eventually. It's the perfect club for him.

He's an exciting coach, one I think we should have been looking at but he probably wouldn't have picked us over Juve anyway.

Expecting him to be a huge success there. Arteta and Arsenal will have a real challenger to the best defense in the world title, if Juve gets Motta his desired targets for the defense. This project could deliver that long-awaited 3rd Champions League title for them in ~3-5 years' time IMO.

Motta at Juventus and Inzaghi at Inter should ensure that these two teams are going to dominate the Serie A for the next couple of seasons. I don't see anyone else in that league with a similarly ambitious project as those two, and they have the two best managers now as well.

Eventually, that could happen. However, right now, I think the league is beneath him, no offense. Juve would probably have to build a top 5 squad in the world, and then guarantee Pep at least 3 quality additions per summer just for him to consider it IMO. So basically pre-Ronaldo strength Juve with 150m+ net spend per season...at least that's my opinion.

Not expecting him to go to Saudi at all, agreed with you on that. The problem is that I don't know where he could go after City if he leaves in 2025, other than a longer sabbatical. Barcelona is something that would tempt him IMO, if Laporta and the current board left.

Klopp for me is the next AC Milan manager if he isnt thinking about National management.

He is going to make AC milan giants again kind of like how he bought Liverpool back up from the cemetry.

Certainly fits his career trajectory, but can Italian clubs really attract a Klopp level manager these days? I don't think so, not with their current financial situation. It's an impossible task to return Milan to the top if you cannot spend a lot of money and the wage bill cannot compete with the biggest teams either.

no italian club is rich enough to give him his asking wages and being able to buy the players he'd like.

Guardiola does not care about money. He is the kind of manager who wants to CHALLENGE himself.

Paulo Fonseca has taken over at Milan so not now for Klopp. Plus he is adamant he'll need time off. I reckon you're right about the profile of club he'll pick though - a fallen giant type. He's a romantic.

Assume it's a 3 year loan deal, no money up front, Bologna still pay his wages and there's an optional payment of 5m at the end of it.

Taking over Juve would fit his career of being the face of a dodgy/cheating club.

"Doesn't care about money".

So far Guardiola has only taken jobs that presented the biggest challenge that he could find.

Barcelona, Bayern and City are all high pressure environments where managers were sacked routinely before Guardiola came.

If he wanted an easy job for a lot of money he would have gone to Saudi or MLS. Instead he took the most high risk jobs.

Look at how many managers Barcelona and Bayern have sacked since Guardiola. These are the most difficult jobs in football.

The only reason why people are saying Guardiola took easy jobs is because he made them look easy.

Mazzulla at Boston Celtics has his days numbered already, you and Pep all know, right?

Every club sacks managers. He’s the best manager in the world but he walked into one of the most talented teams ever at Barca, similar at Bayern. The only rebuild he has ever really done is City with their billions.

yeah that's why he is on 20m/year kind of wage right? and that he is at City since so many years?
Because they're a well managed club and a very hard challenge right?

He always went to rich clubs. Never went for a economical average or little above average club.
Of course he is succesful.
I'd like to see him in this cash scraped Juventus.
Now going to Juventus or Milan with a 5-7m net salary and knowing the clubs can't invest much money and make them succeful domestically and internationally would make him someone who doesn't care about money and challenge himself.

Going to United would even be a challenge itself! I mean a rich spending club thats doing a mistake after another for years.
Going to Arsenal and win with them would make it a challenge.

Heck going to any team bar the one winning 6leagues in the past 7 years would make it a challenge.
Reality is that like anyone he loves RICH challenges.

Ancelotti and Conte challenged themself.
Going to Napoli and Everton aka the average teams
Going to Tottenham and now Napoli for example

One of the most interesting managerial appointments for next season, imo. I saw a few of the Bologna's games after we were linked with him and they did play quite good football. He was one of my managerial choices for us. Juve is not as easy a job as it was a few seasons ago. It'll take some guile and effort for them to go back to challenging again in Serie A and the champions league. Although, Milan has always been my second team, i'll be rooting for this guy and hope we are in contention to get him if he does well there.

Juventus is a team I see as a dark horse in this competition. Motta’s style offers a well-balanced approach, with the main concept revolving around transitions. Defensively, they still retain some of Allegri’s concepts, while in attack, they are gradually absorbing Motta’s philosophy. Motta has instilled a winning spirit and mentality into Juventus’ youngsters in an admirable way. Today’s game shows it all in respectable manner.

Bremer's injury can be a disaster on the whole season.

I watched them a couple of weeks ago, and they looked very good in and out of possession. Motta is surely going to be one of the top coaches. I think we are interested in him at United, but it was a mistake to let him go to Juve. You can see he’s already made a big difference there, while we’ve got Erik still failing to set an appropriate system up for us.

That was a foundational game to kickstart a new tenure, hopefully they will follow suit accordingly.

Our club dropped the ball when they decided to keep ETH in the summer instead of taking a chance with Motta or McKenna. We could've had a head start on our "Back to the top by 2028" plan if we went with him. His Bologna team looked excellent and he has hit the ground running at Juve, which again was not the easiest job.

Good to see him do well. He is in the category of the best young managers around. Hopefully, we'll go for him in the future as his was one of the names touted around for us and seems like INEOS are well aware of his promise.

Was Motta ever on the cards? I got the impression that he was only ever leaving Italy for Barcelona if they came calling.

Struggling to convert performances to actual wins right now in the league, which is the real metric to gauge by.
Lots of exciting 0-0 draws....

That or PSG, he was always meant to coach PSG at one point but was deemed to inexperienced so far.
