One of the posters on the Barca forum posted this:

Yeah I'm looking right now and I can see a great deal of them are "observing" the meltdown on this forum

Quite a few look like arrogant idiots though
Nothing funnier than a Barca fan calling any other club fan arrogant.

The worst and best thing that happened to United was the Beckhams, Giggs etc coming through, but unfortunately that was a freak year and all future generation get compared to them.

Anyone else remember Macari saying on TalkSport that he didn't rate Ronaldo?

When we had a lean spell about 8 years ago, Macari regularly used to say that Rooney and Ronaldo were not good enough to step into the shoes of Scholes and Keane by way of leading us to glory.

I suppose the only worrying thing about Thiago's ball is that it says Manchester, could be either club. Imagine the melt down on here should he sign for City!

Macari is a bit dour isn't he.

Alan from Crewe has asked Lou how many United midfielders would get 15 game in the Barca side. I am struggling. Lou said Michael Carrick.

I have no time for Lou Macari. Just seems to me he likes to be a hipster of footballing opinions and goes against the norm just to stir it up. Likes to think his opinion is almighty.

Nice bloke in person - but I'd hate to go into a football debate with him. He wouldn't know when to admit that he's wrong.

Excuse me for not reading through the massive thread, but how many games was he really short of having the clause getting upped to 90 mil or whatever?

The belief is that the clause said he had to play at least 30 minutes in at least 60% of the matches, but it's not clear what counted as a match - were the Supercopa games counted for example. Whatever the details it's believed he ended up several matches away. Hence why things suddenly started going public a month or so before the end of the season, he'd passed the "can they give him the games" deadline.

Oh God. Not another Ryan Tunicliffe fan on MUTV. Probably the same ones who wanted us to sign Charlie Adams and crying when Liverpool got him.

Cheers for the explanation!

Anyhow he's ours now. The ball clearly states so.

If we want to win the CL again, we need something different, not another traditional box to box english midfield player. The game has moved on from those types.

That ball will one day sit firmly on a posh cushion in the Manchester United Museum.

This thread has taken a serious step towards the Sneijder/Ozil/Hazard benchmark. The writing on the ball thing is so unique, I'm seriously impressed at DDG's muppet skills. Part of me will almost be sad if we wrap this up too early, this thread has serious potential...

That link to the Barca forum is great too :)

Brilliant thread - don't think there's been a period longer than 'last few seconds' for latest post for quite a while.

I love the smell of muppetry in the morning. It's also good in the evening.

There's nothing like midnight muppetry though. When you're heading for bed. So that you confront one of life's great decisions. Stay or go?

Half right tbf to him

 Is Macari saying he has doubts about Thiago's temperament because he is Hispanic? I remember he said that when we were linked with Torres at Athletico

MUTV is a great source for laughs though, I remember once a caller said Paul McShane should be given a run in midfield because he could be the new Roy Keane.

Lou Macari has not got a clue about anything. They have him on a show talking about transfers and he NEVER watches anyone outside the premiership. Brilliant player but absolute cabbage of a pundit. #manchanited

Marca aren't that interested, even in their website's Barcelona section. Sure, they've got an article on the ball-signing but they're far more interested in their 'Tax-dodger Messi faces a Million Years in Prison' story.
