Let's look at this properly. This is what we know.
1. We made a bid for Alcantara 2 years ago and he
wanted to stay at Barca.
2. He was unhappy last year and so negotiated a
contract with Barca that he plays 30 games. If not he
goes for 18m Euros before 31st July 2013 and 90m Euros
afterwards.
3. He only played 23 games (Barcelona f***** up) and
guess Tito V. being sick didn't help things.
4. He's currently playing behind Iniesta, Xavi,
Busquets, & Fabregas and they won the league and no
sign of him being able to improve from the bench or
them retiring.
5. Barca just signed Neymar. No idea what Barca formation
will look like but looks like 1 place less somewhere in the MF.
6. RM expressed an interest and he has stated he
wouldn't join RM.
7. He hasn't stated that he wouldn't leave
8. MD have reported that he has told TPTB at Barca that
he intends to leave.
9. MD reported that due to conflict of interests &
pacts BM are out of the equation and RM (maybe Pep
can't go to former Barca players straight away).
10. This is Alcantara's last season in Spain U21s.
11.He is desperate to make the Spain WC team in Rio
next year but has to be playing First Team Football to
do that
12. Spain's midfield includes Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi,
Fabregas, Cazorla, Martinez, Mata and other up & coming
talent.
13. Doesn't make any sense for him to join a team that
won the CL with Martinez, Kroos, Schweinsteiger,
Muller, Shaqiri and who just signed Gotze as no better
position than he was in Barcelona with Pep where he was
also a sub.
14. MD report that Manchester City BM don't interest
him.
15. SAF has kept that CM position open for 2 years (AT
LEAST) as United tried to sign him 2 years ago.
16. United are DESPERATE for a central midfielder as
Anderson is injury-prone as is Cleverly (although both
are talented) and doubts over Fletcher's health and
fitness.
17. DDG is actively trying to persuade Alcantara to
join him in Manchester.
18. Ferdinand praised Alcantara's performance and
claimed we need to produce youngsters like that.
19. MD (Mundo Deportivo) reported that Thiago is close
to joining Manchester United and that his father and
agent (former Brazilian player Mazinho) has already met
representatives from the club.
