It's incredible that singers like this have managed to get to this stage, whereas contestants who could actually sing (that Scottish one who sang Someone Like You at the auditions, for example) failed to make it through.

Nah. Nu Vibe were abysmal. And they looked like a bunch of creeps. Frankie obviously isn't a great singer, but being a bland singer is better than being a bunch of shit singers who are painful to listen to.

Red isn't a hard song to sing to an acceptable standard. Frankie KILLED it, I genuinely cringed.
To be fair though I didn't listen to much of Nu Vibes song, so I'll take your word for it being awful. But it's hard to sing worse than Frankie's version of Red.

I disagree, especially regarding Janet and Amelia. Not sure about Sophie as she didn't get a lot of exposure. I think using her weight as a reason is just an excuse. It might have prevented her being as popular as some of the others but not getting through IMO.
