Television The Witcher | Netflix | There are book spoilers here

Yep, him. I think he is mentioned only once at the beginning of TW1.

I have to say I am loving how Yennefer looks, I was skeptical in the beginning but I am liking what I'm seeing, literally only thing I have problem with from what I have seen so far is Triss casting choice, but we shall see.

Is it a one season dump of episodes or weekly?

I actually wouldn't mind a week be week release... Think it would help the show in terms of buzz and anticipation the has longer legs then it would if it was a full dump.

I like bingeing a good show and what better time than the christmas holidays. If its a show that isn't suited to it then ill space it out but it wouldn't be a once a week kind of deal which is a schedule i've never liked much.

Not too sure - Discovery wasn't dumped and the trailers don't have the usual "watch the whole season on the 20th" that you get. Unless Netflix have changed the way they do their trailers.

Star Trek Discovery is a CBS show, not a Netflix show. Netflix just had international distribution rights.

All of their own content is dropped all at once, and this will be too!

I only read a few of the novels but have played Witcher 3 which is one of my all time faves. How important is Triss to Geralt's story in the books? I don't think i can remember that many scenes where they were together in the novels (i remember quite a few Yennefer ones...the last wish especially). I've heard that the games made her more sympathetic when she was actually less so in the books and i'm wondering what the show will make of her.

Ah, those lying Netflix bastards in that case.

Ok good, the missus can get her flicking done in one evening then.

Haven't read the books either but my understanding from picking up on comments from those who did is that Yen has always been more of a main character and arguably primary love interest he also often falls out like some kind of married couple, whereas Triss is more of the occasional sidekick. The fact the show in essence chose to have three storylines that intertwine with Yen s being one should be enough evidence Triss doesn't hold nearly the same value to the overall story.

She's not particularly so in the books. She's a [relatively] young sorceress of the lodge. She is described as rather jovial, bubbly, and widely liked -- particularly when compared to Yennefer who is pretty much disliked by all but Ciri and Geralt because of how stubborn, aloof, and particular she is. Triss plays some part in Ciri's development when she is young; assisting with her training in Kaer Morhen. Beyond that, she plays a very minor role. She is shown to have quite a big crush on Geralt and makes advances that are not reciprocated, which link back to her being rather young (and every magical woman really does want a piece of Geralt).

Not really sure how she fits, to be honest. The show is supposedly based around the initial novels/shorts - which would make Geralt, Yennefer, and Dandelion the main characters. Ciri too, obviously.

Maybe they'll play up the romance aspect and have her more like game Triss. Some sort of relationship triangle between her and Yen. I haven't been keeping up with things (because I'm not that hyped for it, really) but I think the show has been granted a second season already. Plenty of stuff to pad in for Triss if they wish to.

My body is ready.

The fact they've already commissioned season 2 makes me think that it has to be good.

I want this so bad that I'll be happy even if its berserk cgi level.

It's Netflix though. They did the same with Mindhunter and it took them two fecking years to release season two. They did it with Altered Carbon too and there's no word of a second season yet.

Pretty sure the main reason they do it is to generate hype.

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm but the more I see the more excited I get.

I'm pretty sure I read they already scheduled filming to start at the beginning of 2020. So probably targeting next holiday season for s2.

Gods, I hope this show is as good as the trailers look. Can't wait.
I think I'll stay clear of reviews. Want to watch this without any pre conceived notions (other than the ones I already have).

FRIDAY

Got a work night out on Friday which means I'm off all weekend and can binge myself to death on this.

Not read the books or played much of the game but I will watch this from the start hopefully it's decent.
