Arguably the GOAT of games when it comes to it's story, world-building and sex scenes but the combat is really bad and don't get me started on the horse-riding mechanics. A flawed masterpiece I would say.

Imagine this world and story with the combat mechanics of Bloodborne or Ghost of Tsushima, wow.

I really don't think the combat is as bad as everyone says. It's just not top tier. The story, lore, world building and characters are where the game really shines. And Gwent. All must praise Gwent.

Mass effect games were good but extremely overrated imo. I feel that way despite loving sci fi / space travel as the setting

Witcher 3 plus Dlcs >>> Entire Me trilogy imo

TW 3 and GTA:SA are far and away my greatest games ever played. The Skellige mission near the end on TW3 is the most intense, terrifying, haunting gameplay I have ever experienced

I love ME trilogy but I think that TW3 is a better game than any of the ME games.

I would go with TW3 > ME1 = ME2 > TW2 = ME3 > TW.

As a trilogy, I would give it to Mass Effect though.

But also has worse actual gameplay than "most full games".

We can do that kind of non specific hyperbole forever. In fact, we pretty much have and continue to do so all the time
I don't think it's hyperbole. The two DLCs are better value for money than your average game.

I actually quite enjoy the combat now, particularly when you’re fighting against a group of enemies. It’s nothing amazing, but don’t think it’s ‘terrible’.

Been focusing on side quests/undiscovered locations last couple of days but going to hammer on with the story for a bit now.

Are you good at Gwent yet?

Side quests in this game are good aren’t they.
I once went online to find out about random side quests I'd missed. There's one that starts on a tiny island in Skellige that you have no reason to ever visit and ends up in Velen.

Want to replay it but the clunky controls and awful combat are hard to deal with. And that horse...

Not really. The story and dialogues are top notch, the music is brilliant, the characters are amazing, the diversity of missions is great, and the side quests are actually interesting.

The gameplay is good enough, but not necessarily as complex as old RPGs. Redlambs just thinks that every post-90s game that is not Zelda has bad gameplay.

One of the greatest games of all time, no doubt there. And probably, the best RPG ever.

I caught on to Redlambs having a bit of a reputation for being a moaner for gaming, but I thought it exaggerated until I read the original The Last of Us thread on here from waaaaaaaaay back when, and to my surprise there's Redlamb even back then being the solitary voice trashing the game everyone was calling a masterpiece after release.

That’s not true. He only moans if it’s not a Nintendo game. If it’s a Nintendo game he thinks it’s great and the price increases are always justified.
