The White Supremacist Terrorist Threat

You look at the comments on the right wing papers in Canada and then you will understand why these things happen in Canada. The Conservative MPs in 2017 refused to vote in passing a non binding motion in condemning Islamophobia and all religious and racial discrimination after the Quebec mosque massacre. Blaine Higgs the Premier in New Brunswick is vague in the investigation of these "schools" for indigenous children in New Brunswick. It is getting worse. Maybe it was there all the time but hidden underneath but with Trump it has come back to the surface.

It was there all the time.

This is what makes the push by the GOP here in the US to remove "negative" (aka truthful) teachings of our racist history so cynical. If they have their way people will keep saying "where did tis come from" when the answer was always "It was there all the time".

Higgs also has some explaining to do for that Black doctor he very quickly blamed for a COVID-19 outbreak a little while ago and who was cleared of that this week. But he has already made clear that there won't be no apologies forthcoming. A sad character, at least when it comes to diversity. (NB's francophones come to mind as well.)

It was there all the time.

It was, but if anything it's getting worse.

In a month and a half is the 10 year anniversary of the 22 July attacks in Norway, and parts of Norwegian society have been exploring the reckoning we had - or possibly didn't have - after that attack. It's been pointed out that one of the people crying over that attack was Philip Manshaus, who would go on to be radicalized online, and in 2019 attempted a terrorist attack on a Mosque in Norway. The attack failed, but unfortunately he had already killed his 17-year old adopted sister.

I would say the hate and racism have always been there, but the internet has created an opportunity to reach young people and radicalize them in a way that wasn't possible before unless you were running things to begin with.

Now he has used parliamentary privilege to criticize him. It's beneath the status of the Premier. The worst thing the Province did was to elect him. In reality the Libs fecked up by electing someone who is not electable as their leader.

Andrew Dymock, the son of two academics from Bath, has been convicted of multiple terror offences following an Old Bailey trial.
The university student, who founded and led two banned neo-Nazi terrorist groups, was first exposed by the BBC.
In the summer of 2017, racist and homophobic propaganda posters began appearing in cities throughout the UK.
Bearing the logo of a new neo-Nazi group, the material abused and sought to intimidate gay, Jewish, black and Muslim people.
The group, System Resistance Network (SRN), also emerged online, using its website and social-media accounts to spread vile imagery, videos and diatribes.

You have it the wrong way around. Memes is the entry point. A specific sub-set of memes, obviously. They're probably not the most well-adjusted people to begin with, but they're usually just edgy.
Do you mean 4chan 8chan etc?

Do you mean 4chan 8chan etc?

Yeah, for example. Several white supremacist terrorists were radicalized on 8chan. Some even announced their attacks there, and posted the live streams to them, which is... not great.

It could be Reddit too, though it's probably less so these days after Reddit finally did something about it. There used to be loads of very publicly racist subreddits. Today there are other sites too, but the "best" places to radicalize future far-right terrorists are obviously sites people use before they're radicalized. So something like Stormfront is probably not very useful in that regard, because you pretty much have to be an actual fascist to use it in the first place. Like a swastika-tattoo-on-your-face kind of fascist.

Bunp bump...bump.
This is now the official policy of one of America's two major parties.
1 in 3 American adults believe there is an effort to replace whites as the dominant race.

Buffalo shooting: 'Bodies were everywhere'

Witnesses to a racially-motivated attack at a New York state supermarket have been describing the horrific moment an 18-year-old white man pulled out a gun and began a shooting spree that left 10 people dead.
The attacker, dressed in military gear, drove into the car park at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo at about 2.30pm (19:30 BST) and began livestreaming his rampage via a camera on his helmet.

Sick feck live-streaming it. Like the Christchurch shooter.

Expect to see more of those in the next couple years, as people are inspired.
The person who allegedly inspired him was the New Zealand mass shooter who travelled to Ukraine and was radicalized there. Reported last year:

His inspiration is directly linked to Ukraine's far right which the US media has been rehabilitating as part of its foregin policy.

So:
This is now the official policy of one of America's two major parties.

Domestic policy following foreign?
It's the official foreign policy, rehabiliating Nazi groups because it's expedient, of both domestic parties.

Stop trying to make this about Ukraine. There's another thread for that, if you absolutely have to.
Point being that rehabiliating neo-Nazis might work to inspire neo-Nazis, don't you think? Also, there's a direct link to a high-profile white supremacist shooting. If you don't like it, that's not my problem.

That symbol is ubiquitous to white supremacy groups around the world, it started with the Nazis. Of course Azov would use it in their branding. It’s not unique to Azov.

That article even points out that they don't know if Azov was one of the groups. Hell, it doesn't even say that they were Ukrainian groups, just "that part of the world," which could easily mean Europe, or Eastern Europe.

Also, you can't say he was radicalized in Ukraine, and then link to a snippet from an article which says he was radicalized online.

He mentioned other racially motivated killings and said he “mostly agreed” with Brenton Harrison Tarrant, who livestreamed his own attack that killed 51 people attending a New Zealand mosque in March 2019.

(tarrant who is believed, by NZ intel agencies, to have been partially radicalized by Azov and groups of that nature whilst in Ukraine).

white supremacist to white supremacist. Domestic/foreign policy of two US parties.

what a leap

Until the authorities accept that 1) laws must be deeply adapted and 2) the war against white supremacists must be waged the same way that we fight against foreign terrorism, nothing's going to change. Western nations, especially the United States have the tools and we have the personnel to do the job. However, current laws do not allow to redirect them where we need them the most now.

I read in an article from a different thread that Rep. Adam Schiff proposed the extension of the death penalty for federal crimes of domestic terrorism back in 2019. I say that should be brought back on the table as means to get rid of the likes of Dylan Roof, Payton Gendron, etc. No mercy for such unredeemable people.

You think this maniac is part of a larger conspiracy? He was ordered to carry out the attack?

Azov Battalion are massively influential in white supremacist terrorism worldwide. It’s ignorant to think otherwise.

The white terrorist in Buffalo may have been radicalised online but it’s clear he’s copying the Christchurch killer who himself took inspiration from and had links with the Azov Battalion, Anders Breivik and the likes in Europe.
