Why? He couldn't have stopped those goals and we weren't exactly swamped by them at any point.
As for the penalty, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Barthez do something similar.

Disappointed for the team and for Gary as captain, as even a draw would have been a fine result and mathematically sealed up the group top spot for us.
Players were out, but we still had 10 internationals out there wearing the red shirt.
Thought the starting line up was sensible but tactically, once again we were in nowheresville with nobody to pull a rabbit out of a hat as the game slipped away. Why were we playing 4 at the back with Phil Neville as defensive anchor when we were 2-0 down against a team playing on the break ?
Pleasantly surprised by Nardiello's touch and movement. Richardson worked hard, took up good positions, nothing to warrant all the hype yet.
Overall, this squad lacks height and physical presence in midfield / attack areas and if nothing else tonight's result underlined that.

I don't know what he would have done, but I'm sure that if he had conceded that first goal, we should have heard the same old comments "He's too short Bla bla bla...". It proves that tall keepers can concede that kind of goals.

It was a bizarre line up. Not in the fact that there were so many missing but Forlan/Ole on the right? Where was Luke Chadwick? was he injured?
If so use Phil Nev. he's done it before.
Also i though it was strange having Richardson and Fortune on the pitch at the same time. Both left sided, personally i would have gone for someone like Michael Stewart instead of Fortune.
Was quite pleased with the effort Diego put in, he was unlucky to hit the bar. The thing i really like about Diego is no matter where he picks up the ball his first move is always to drive towards the box. He will win a lot of free kicks by doing that.
