The US Democratic Party - The Road to 2026 and 2028

I'm still backing @simonhch's idea of the Dems leaning entirely into the madness of it all and going for The Rock. The ultimate strong man.

Wouldn't the Dems be happy to see Trump burn it all down though so that they'll be vindicated for their warnings?

"Don't interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake" and all that stuff?

Why would you think I would be happy to watch my country burn down and people I love be harmed?

More like the Democratic Party elites who wouldn't particularly be hurt by the consequences.

It's a class-based thing and I agree with you. Those DNC "elites" simply don't give a shit. They're bought and paid for by the same class of billionaires which, internal schisms, and whatever, are being cited as the problem now (the tech oligarchs). Class inequality is the primary problem and as per your exchange above, I don't think Dem voters are happy to watch it burn but I am certain that the DNC class-entrenched (removed from the voters, and massively) don't really give a shit. That's almost all of them at a particular class level.

The voters, of each party imo, do care. The funcionaries are happy to divide the two against each other so long as they have first class cabins on the Titanic. They sit insulated, by design, from their so-called constituents whom they only ever feck over whenever they do get into office (on more than "average" -- you can name a policy here and there for any president, even Trump, which does not disprove the rule).

Moreover, the Starmer lesson (DNC strategy now) should be understood: disagreed quietly (didn't raise his voice) when he was in opposition and did the sum total of feck all (thus far) when he won political position as PM (or what passes for "power" -- rather incorrectly).

There must be a movement -- class-based -- or not much will change for some time. Capitalism has killed itself but like a dying star you have to watch it die before enough people understand the conclusion. That's the burning down I can see -- not political party based but economic and very macro. This only has one possible answer: social works to attenuate the distance between one mode of economy and the mode of economy to follow, between which (economic systems) there will be a notable gap which is rife for madness (in absentia of, I'll say it again, "Housing, Healthcare, and Education").

Finally, voters are taught to vote against their interests by the apparatus of any capitalist state and no state is more capitalist than the US. I can't get with the "these people are responsible" because, any cursory understanding of economics and class just reveals this to be complete nonsense.

It’s utterly ridiculous and completely stupid, but I’m pretty convinced it would work. Let’s be frank, this is a country that would rather elect an alleged rapist, convicted felon, racist and all around half witted nut job, than a highly qualified woman. In an insane world, The Rock might just be the sanest choice.

What happened to the likes of Beto O'Rourke? Guy seemed pretty likeable and electable and after his loss to Greg Abott he just seemed to have disappeared.

He made a huge boo-hoo, he told Texas he was going after their AR15's, he basically made himself unelectable
