Why was it deleted?

I know it's hardly the biggest talking point on a day that has seen us practically win the title, but I'm struggling to see why its mention has been prohibited. Normally I wouldn't bother starting a thread in the Admin forum on such a small issue, but I'm sure there are posters who want to discuss the potential ban and I'm interested to know the reason for the thread's deletion.

I'm just wondering at what point the incident will be allowed to be discussed. If it is to result in disciplinary action, and it almost certainly will, then obviously there will need to be a thread about it at some point.

I can understand people not wanting to discuss bad news on a day like today, but in that case simply don't enter the thread. There was no need for anybody to get abusive and whine about it.

The more we discuss it the more recognition the papers will give it. I'd say drop it mate.

Just look at the Kaka to United thread. Journalists often scour this forum.

I somehow agree with this.

So us gimps on an internet forum should refrain from discussing an incident involving one of our players because it might encourage the press to give it coverage?

This place has officially gone mad.

Perhaps we should have avoided discussing the incident with Rooney and the Sky camera a few weeks back... maybe the media wouldn't have caught on.

Let's start an interesting rumour here. We'll see how often journos read the Caf.

Yes we should, like I said remember when we created a rumour about Kaka showing interest in joining United? The papers were all over it. The more we talk about it the more people will know about it.

Besides, why are you so concerned about that? We're basicially wrapped up the league, be happy ffs.

Probably the same reason the alleged Giggs cheating on his wife with Imogen quickly vanished.

If we keep posting this will the thread be deleted?

But this isn't a rumour. It's something that happened and it's something that will get press coverage.

What gesture?

Here you go.

Bit odd to delete the original thread but the identity of the person who started a thread whining about it is no great surprise. Rednev's day has been ruined by this denial of a chance to slag off Rooney.

All the OP contained was a mention that an incident apparently occurred, as reported by the BBC, and my opinion that if it was caught on tape, it will certainly result in a ban. I wanted to express my opinion on the matter and when I saw that there was no thread on the issue, I decided to start one. It was a perfectly reasonable thread and the OP was perfectly sensible. The only thing that wasn't sensible was the reaction of a number of abusive drama queens who got their knickers in a twist at the sight of me daring to start a thread on a fairly obvious talking point, as if they have the right to decide what's allowed to be discussed on here and what isn't.

He was merely saying he'll be winning 2 trophies this season to the Chelsea fans.

FFS. What a load of shite. If that gets any serious press coverage over the result then the world has officially gone mad.

I remember watching United play Forest at OT and Roy Keane making a 'wanker' gesture at us (the season before he joined United) as we were laying into him before kick off. It's all banter.

This is not a world of men.

I don't see this incident discussed anywhere in the press as much as the outburst.

That was a completely different and blatant case.

Its such a shame that such incidents get so much coverage.

Its like the Journos are waiting to pounce on and destroy United at any chance possible and especially Rooney.

Are the press in UK actually discussing this?

I don't know if cameras picked up on it last week, but Rooney put two fingers up to the Arsenal crowd as well. No-one gave a toss, and we all moved on.

I think rednev hates Rooney more than he loves Manchester United. I really do.

I'm with Rednev in only so far that its unfair to have a thread deleted just because someone doesnt want journo's to read it or its controversial or whatever.

Its a forum FFS. I can understand if its about protecting the caf, eg, with the recent injunction fiasco, but any poster deserves to get a thread they started displayed. If people don't like it they can just not respond...

Premier Soccer Saturday (on RTE) just did a segment on it. Oh fecking brilliant, Adams can stomp on bales ankle but god forbid someone sticks the V sign at people who are calling him a cnut all game long.

It was for 2 yellows Ivanovic should have gotten.

If it's actually in the club's interest to not have the incident promoted then we shouldn't do so.

Got serious doubts about that as well

Thought he was a Liverpool fan.

I find it odd that any United fan's first reaction after the game today ,where we all but sealed up no. 19, is to start a thread about some random Rooney gesture.
