Television The Sopranos

Ben Kingsley’s cameo is pretty funny looking back…

Christopher’s near death experience prompts a wiseguy’s concerns about hell:

The great thing about the Sopranos was every episode was like a mini movie. The episodes didn’t have the same continuing story line in part because it was streamed when it came out like most of todays shows on Netflix and Amazon. Still the best show ever made

Over the past few weeks I must have watched nearly the entire show in 4 minute YouTube clips. There are some great observations in the comments section like someone pointing out that it's pretty funny to think that Phil was hiding in that closet for hours just to make that symbolic reveal before Vito's whacking

I'm rewatching it and this time round I dislike Tony Soprano. He's immature, greedy, cruel and can't stand to see anyone else happy.

When I watched it when I was younger I thought he was great.

Total scumbag, and only gets worse as the show progresses.

The super bowl commercial was so good, made me think about doing another rewatch of this amazing show.

Was this shown In the UK and Ireland "live"?

I watched it on Channel 4 from the second episode of season 2 onward as it aired. Turned it on to this scene and got hooked:

Was amazing how one of the best mob characters on the Sopranos wasn't even Italian.

He’s Jewish right?

I’ve seen it said on Reddit that his portrayal of Richie was the most authentic portrayal of a wiseguy seen on TV.

Yeah. He was incredibly effective in pulling off his character. Incredibly loathsome. The final scene where he beat up Janice was chilling.

I always see that guy as the character from the four rooms.
"We don't got no needles here kid, just a big feckin gun".....

Had a role as an Italian in Mean Streets too.

(edit): he was in Shawshank Redemption too now that I think of it

I can relate to this, had a similar feeling when I watched it last year. I also felt that about Walter White on my second viewing of BB, and had more sympathy for Skyler too.

It was shown a few months later on Channel 4 in autumn 1999...

I came into it half way through that first season to see what all the hype was about.

i was being obsessed with American gansgters movies around that time...so Sopranos was right up my alley

Finished watching it the second time, loved it. Took my time watching it this time. I don't think he gets clipped in the end, they hype it up too much.

I think he does. It's like that line in the show where yer man says "They say you don't hear it when it happens" or something like that. Might be the only reason why it ended so abruptly

They really needed the Reverend Rodney King Junior there. “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Beansie actor died. Was also in Goodfellas, Casino and The Irishman.

This is my favorite show of all time (along with Twin Peaks), I can't even keep track of how many times I have watched it, but probably watched the whole series through more than 10 times.
Absolute perfection, the coma episodes are so deep and touching, definitely my favorite part of the series, if I had to pick one.
I guess it's time again to rewatch it, just when I thought I was out... :smirk:

Ten times!? I've just started it again. It's my 5th or 6th time

The best TV show ever

Well, you aren't that far behind either mate :D
Just started all over again last night, looking forward to Junior Soprano and his antics in early episodes, probably my favorite character in entire series.
