Television The Shield

Deadwood has aged really well. Think it's as good as any of the usual GOATs mentioned.

I only watched it for the first time a few years ago and I adore it. I actually found the plot quite hard to keep up with at times yet it somehow didn't diminish my enjoyment of it at all. Violent, profane poetry. It pains me that it was cancelled prematurely.

I assume you're aware there's a film too.

Yep, thanks mate. I loved it, but if anything it just pissed me off even more that we were deprived of more the series. It's one of those fairly rare shows where I can start watching any random episode and just be transfixed immediately. The dialogue is just mesmerising to me. Unsurprisingly, Al Swearengen is almost certainly my favourite character in anything ever made.

Ian McShane's pop played winger for United in the early 50s. Yet another reason to like the actor.

I’m actually rewatching 24 at the moment and it’s still the best show that’s ever been on TV.

I went down a random rabbit hole recently and found out that Gregory Itzin passed away. I must have missed it at the time. He was such a great character in 24. "That's Jack Bauer"

Fantastic show. Chiklis and Goggins superb.
I was initially underwhelmed by Goggins for the first season & a half, but his character has risen in quality since. He certainly has a presence on screen.

Just remembered he was in 'Six,' I need to go back & rewatch that now.

He's tremendous come the later seasons. Love him in most things I've seen, especially Justified.

Hes fantastic in sons of anarchy if you haven't seen it

I hated him throughout season 5 though. Guess that's a testament to his great acting.
On the second episode of season 5 right now. Just love his screen presence. Don’t recall ever seeing him poor in anything.

Right? Left me in shock back when I first saw it.

Which was like 15 years ago now, man :(
So who beat the shit out of Shane? Did I miss that scene? All of a sudden he was being wheeled on a gurney into the hospital at the start of S5 E5.

About four episodes left & it is starting to build towards the satisfyingly described finish.

Hope to knock them out by tomorrow. Very engrossing series overall.
