The Road Trip Draft

@Skizzo @Pat_Mustard i’ll take this guy

United fan, so guess he counts.

I genuinely considered picking him to block you guys but couldn’t bring myself to do it :wenger:

Good man :D. We actually had a slightly bonkers Plan A that I'll share when our match is over, but opted for the more straightforward option in the end. I'm going to a wedding tomorrow and realistically I'll be drunk until Sunday night, so could we play on Tuesday or Wednesday if that suits you and @Skizzo ?

@Indnyc thought you would go with Tresor for sure. Tresor + Maldini CB combo would have been an excellent addition. Can't argue with more firepower up front though.

My options were

Tresor; thought Blanc and him are rated in the same tier so didn’t pick him

Amoros: To block Skizzo/Pat

Suarez: To move Best to the left and Suarez in the inside right position

Henry: To replace Giggs and have more goal scoring opportunity

Finally decided to go with Henry

I am fine whenever.. Sooner the better so that the other draft can start.. Going to be drinking most of the Thanksgiving weekend as well :D

I submitted my tactics as i had some free time.. Whenever you two are ready we can play

Am I the only one who doesn't really rate Blanc that highly? For example to me Tresor and McGrath are both a level above.

Blanc suffers a bit for the time he spend at United but imo at his peak he was one of the best

In the late 90's? Not really. Could easily name 10 CB's better than him at the time. His fame comes from his international success at club level I'm not sure how well I'd rate him especially in terms of consistency. In terms of draft "credentials" you see players like Hansen get a lot of stick for being slower and Blanc is probably one of the slowest CB's I've seen at his peak.

You'd put him in higher tier due to his success with the NT and probably close to the likes of Stam, McGrath, etc, but in reality I'd have him around Hummels level in terms of all time credentials - had some world class seasons, but not enough to compare him to some of the best defenders of his generation.

Nesta, Kohler, Maldini, Thuram, Sammer are probably the players from 90’s early 200’s that i would rate above him.. Hansen isn’t rated here also because of Liverpool (reasons i don’t pick him anyway)

Bergomi, Cannavaro, Vierchowod, Ferrara, Stam, McGrath, etc..

I can understand people rating him and probably given his credentials and previously have put him in higher tier all things considered, but individually I'd rate him lower down the list.

Missed a trick there not picking De Gea and finishing off that United theme in style.

Thanks to @Moby for organizing this great draft! Chain drafts are not my favourite ones, but this was highly enjoyable both as a manager and as observer.

Team of the tournament in my opinion:

The Golden Boot goes to Muller and Golden Ball goes to Beckenbauer of course, as the best player of the losing side in the final:wenger:

This is a great idea. Often we do see some interesting tournament performances and this would be a good way to keep a record of this.

Zanetti was the best leftback?

Voters adore Zanetti wherever he plays, I learned that the hard way:(

The alternatives weren't that great, many managers upgraded their fullbacks in the middle of the tournament and Nilton Santos was the only other constant, who had a rough time in the semi and in the final vs Garrincha and Matthews. I guess both Cole and Carlos would have been okay as well, but I also wanted to include a player from MJJ and couldn't find a way to fit in anyone else.
