Final standings

Pretty much what I expected, all things considered. Dr. Junior & BenitoSTARR have had a consistently good season with the Cavs, and they were just about to keep ahead of Dan II and the 76ers. Two Nil & Stobzilla II maintained their meh form, but it was still easily enough. It's still a much closer East than in years, so all of our Cafites have a chance at going far.

Skizzlet was not able to maintain the good start with the Hawks, while reelworld II was able to turn things around a little bit. It wasn't enough to get above the line in the end, but it's something. The two Cafites at the bottom will be very disappointed with the seasons their teams have had - again. SebJr improved somewhat on the Heat's form, if not their positioning, while The Cub seems to have picked very poorly when his contract expired. Might be a decent time to take his one contract break, unless the Nets draft very well.

ycZfjfk.png

11 Cafites from the West made the playoffs. The only one who didn't was Solius, who realistically never expected to anyway. The season was still far better than the last one for the Pelicans. Above the line we've got sontodevil and the Grizzlies, who seem clinically unable to avoid playing one of the juggernauts in the 1st Round. It'll take a miracle for him to beat the Spurs, or a lot of injuries. Pepper Bailly also made the playoffs with some margin, though the recent form is not promising. His Timberwolves will play the resurgent Nuggets. BenitwoSTARRLET and P-Nut are clear favourites.

And then you have the Rockets and the Spurs. Obviously. They ended on the same record, with weeweetee & Lil' V.O. capturing the top spot. The tiebreaker was that Houston won the division, though they had the same record there too (13-3). The tiebreaker for that was that they had the better record against Western Conference Teams, 47-5 against 46-6. Regardless, we've been here before, and I still think that Nobbers, Heine, Sonius & altodevil are just too strong in the playoffs not to be the favourites.

Second in conference on 74-8 is quite something… Then again, everyone knows we are just coasting in the regular season and will turn on in the playoffs

Quite a lot of injured players. Going almost solo vs Mavs

29/11/3 - Another great season, capped off by a playoff appearance, no stat decreases and another similar bump in skill ratings would be nice :). hopefully we can take advantage of Washington's injury situation.

@nimic activate sontodevil escape clause

If everyone does it at the same time, the risk is that you just all trade teams. Although maybe another team would be really good if you swapped some players around, who knows.

Maybe we can add a second caveat, which I mentioned a while ago I think. If you've spent 3 years at your team, you're allowed to break your contract (instead of the 5 years that most take). I could just set max contract length to 3 years, but that might mess up some other stuff.

Go back in time and tear up Hobbers bobcat contract, thanks.

Nice. Whatever Player efficiency rating is, I'm the best at it!

Well, time to see how the new upgrade messed with my work flow for these updates. Probably not too much, but I reserve the right to moan anyway.

Sadly the two upsets both involved Cafites losing. It probably won't matter much in the long run, though. I fully expect Houston, San Antonio, Boston and Washington to make it to the final. You'd think the winner would be from the West, but Kevin Durant seems to have entered these playoffs with a chip on his shoulder.

Well! Very predictably we're going to have the Houston Rockets against the San Antonio Spurs in the final, though we came quite close to having the Denver Nuggets in there instead of the Spurs. Also, Sonius getting injured in the last match makes for a very intriguing series, I'm sure. 12 games means he'll miss the series even if it goes to 7. Nobbers is also still playing with a minor injury, which he already re-aggravated earlier this series.

In the East it's also 1-seed versus 2-seed. Kevin Durant wasn't as dominant in the 2nd Round as he was in the 1st (no 60-bombs), but my money is still on the Wizards to make the NBA Final.

Trying to take us out with dirty tricks…

Kinda realistic if we start getting mote injuries. Only Wizards have played as many games the last season

2019 Playoffs Conference Finals

@weetee @V.O. @hobbers @Heine @Solius @altodevil

It's the Spurs against the Rockets again! This is the third time they meet in the Conference Finals. The Spurs won both of the previous encounters, 4-2 in 2016 and 4-1 in 2018. They would have met in 2017 as well, but Houston were knocked out by Utah in the previous round.

On the other side of the brackets we have the Celtics and the Wizards. The Durant-led Wizards have in the past 4 NBA Finals, and we haven't seen a different team than than Washington and Boston representing the East since 2012 - when Lil' V.O.'s old man won his unexpected late career ring.

Disaster for the Spurs! Nobbers picked up back spasms early in the 2nd Round, and then re-aggravated it later in that same series. His (reduced) return was instrumental in them getting past the Nuggets in the end, but now he's re-aggravated the injury again. With Sonius already out for the entire series, this might be the nail in the coffin. The strength of the Spurs has always been the stupidly strong starting 5, but they're not particularly deep.

A 40 point (and 39 shot) game by Jamal Murray was not enough for the Spurs - the Rockets are in charge of this tie!

3-0! weeweetee and Lil' V.O. are taking turns being the best player on the team, but they are both consistently good. The Spurs are trying, but it's not enough. Though we're getting some vintage altodevil performances. I suspect that's why the games are as relatively close as they are. Well, some of them.

The sweep is complete! The Rockets will finally have the chance of fulfilling the promise of their talent. I'm almost positive that's a coherent sentence. Either way, we'll see the Houston boys in the NBA Final. Now the only question remains is who they'll face there. Right now all even between the Wizards and the Celtics, despite some great Durant performances.

It'll be Washington again, for the 5th season in a row (and their 9th in 12 seasons). He's had some absolute storming games these playoffs. He's averaging 42/11/9. Can weeweetee, Lil' V.O. and the other Rockets contain him?

Spurs

Seeing as we're apparently going around smashing kneecaps and taking scalpels to people's backs anyway, can we please just shoot Durant before the finals?

I have 100 endurance and I'm the only player in the league to aggravate an injury while playing injured in playoff games, not once but twice. Sounds likely.

"It's the endurance, lads."

Nice one. pity hobbers held us back last year.

Its a conspiracy! I dont know what to do now, not playing a final? Preposterous!

As far as I can tell, the following players want to use their "break contract" special ability:

- sontodevil
- reelworld II
- The Cub

I'll give you one last look at your teams, so you can decide if you really want to to do it. Consider their finances (salary cap is the new one, it increased a bit), their facilities (which do have an impact, you can go back to the season preview for that one), the age of your squad, etc. You'll have some egg on your face if your team suddenly improves a lot. The grass not always greener on the other side. Although sometimes it is. Statistically the grass is greener 50% of the time.

Just to add, reelworld II and sontodevil can do it without using their one time, if we're going by the "3 years at the same team" thing. The Cub chose very poorly, on the other hand.

So to recap:

- anyone can break their contract one time with their team, at any point.
- if you've spent at least 3 seasons on the same team, you can also leave. Let's call it Bosman 2.0.
