Tree of Life isn't forgettable.
True, for the wrong reasons. Maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind but I found it the most pretentious load of garbage I'd ever seen.

I loved it, but I know it's very divisive. It's just that looking at that list of best pictures nominees, it's the one I'd say wasn't forgettable - whether you loved it or hated it.True, for the wrong reasons. Yeah I'd agree with that and as I say I was maybe not in the right mood for it. The story and the scenes involving actors were fine but the impressionistic time & space stuff left me stone cold at the time, to the extent that I felt cheated for even bothering with the story at all. I should give it another chance.
Hey thanks. And I really love your Kardashian coverage and erm... the bit when you say you like the spooky stories.
Really?! That's on my "watch with the kids" list. Does it pack an emotional punch? Not sure I want to blub in front of the nippers.
I initially thought he looked way to different from the teenage version but after a while you could really buy into that it was the same character due to the body language.Saw Moonlight last night, thought it was very good. Maybe not 'film of the decade' good, but everything it sets out to achieve, it does quite well. The acting is superb (I'd heard the teenage version of Chiron was the best, and he's indeed excellent, but I also loved the adult version of him, the actor has a really touching fragility about him), the story is handled with a lot of subtlety, the cinematography is perfect. It's one of those films that will leave a long lasting impression on me as well, I think. Definitely recommended.
Had the exact same reactionI initially thought he looked way to different from the teenage version but after a while you could really buy into that it was the same character due to the body language.
The actors never met or saw each others performances until afterwards so there was some good direction involved there.Had the exact same reaction
Watched Training Day the other day which I hadn't rewatched since it first came out more than a decade ago.
Denzel Washington really puts in an incredible performance, definitely the best I've ever seen from him. Great film, better than I remembered.
Didn't know that, impressive. The actors never met or saw each others performances until afterwards so there was some good direction involved there.
Yep. If the best director slot wasn't sown up then Jenkins would have had a chance. The actors never met or saw each others performances until afterwards so there was some good direction involved there.
But wouldn't it have been easier if he showed each actor the one before? The actors never met or saw each others performances until afterwards so there was some good direction involved there.
He might have wanted the actors to embody the character in their own way instead of mimicking another actor. But wouldn't it have been easier if he showed each actor the one before?
There's a 2.5 hour live action film based on this series. It's decent.Gantz:O (2016)
Available on Netflix. What can I say?? A 90-minute televisual feast of the highest order to stimulate your senses. High quality Japanese animation about a group of people brought back to life to battle an onslaught of weird and wonderful creatures running havoc through parts of Tokyo and Osaka in what to them is played out like a videogame. They get points for the monsters they kill and can level up, upgrade weapons, confront boss monsters at the end of each level etc., etc. Ultimate prize is a return to their real lives if they achieve a certain number of points. Film has elements of 'Edge of Tomorrow' and 'Pacific Rim' if you like that sort of thing. Things are made a little clearer halfway through the movie, which was a relief as I was a little confused as to what was happening to start with. But that's just a minor point. I must say though, who ever got to design the creatures in this movie must have had a real blast or was smoking something...some of them are freakingly insane, probably some of the most awesome I've seen on film! Just when you think you've seen it all....something even bigger and more badass comes along! And they certainly know how to draw their women. Great action pieces (there's no let up) and cool weapons that will rival most live action films, this was really enjoyable. Animation is superb and near flawless, consigning early efforts like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within to the archives, and the sound through my 5.1 rocked! DO NOT fecking watch this on a tablet, laptop or phone. The bigger the screen, the better. It is subtitled with original Japanese dialogue but that's not a problem as my eyes were fixed to the screen the whole time. Blink and you'll miss something! An immersive and at times jaw-dropping experience. Will be searching out more gems of this calibre.
I'm giving this a 9/10.

So Assasin's Creed, is it acceptable as some mindless fun? I have never played any of the games and have no concept of the franchise.
I see the critics slaughter it, but they mostly slaughter every videogame adaption on pure reflex so won't bother with them.
Anyone seen it?
I had the impression that the movie is more concerned with setting up a franchise than actually telling the story.

I always enjoy movies based on true events. This was another good one.

There's been a time after the Oscars became popular that there weren't any?Meh, too many Oscar-baiting movies these days.
Saw Get Out at the theatre today. It was the first time I've been to a show since 2013. Did you know they have seats that recline now? And you can pick your seat online? It was pretty cool. 8/10
