Johnny Knoxville acting 'spechul'. Dodgy material in some peoples eyes, the jokes were held back a bit IMHO. Should have been funnier than what it was. Typical hollywood.

Jackass Number 2
Plot: Contrary to what the title says, there's not as much number 2 in this one as the original Jackass. No plot, of course, just a bunch of guys doing crazy stunts.
Johnny Knoxville proves himself in this film as the undisputed master of the Jackass Franchise. Of all the stunts and gags, Knoxville in always in the most painful and/or dangerous and he doesn't even blink.
If you enjoyed the first one even marginally, you must lie, cheat, steal; do whatever you have to do to see this film. How they went over and above what they did in the first one is beyond me. How good? Of the three of us who were watching, we all had one separate instance where we had to get up and walk away or risk vomiting. Really. The rest of the time was spent in disbelief or laughing my ass of.
Rating: 8.5/10 (there's a bit too much man-ass for my liking)

Plot: A day in the lives of two convenience clerks named Dante and Randal as they annoy customers, discuss movies, and play hockey on the store roof.
This is one of my favourite movies, arguably the best small budget movie made big. The argument over the merits of blowing up the Death star in star wars has to be one of the best bits of scripting. Likewise the guy blagging some quality toilet paper and a porn mag so that he can go for a wank in the toilets.
Rating: 10/10 - they dont come much better than this
all of kevin smiths fils have been top draw, i loved mallrats, but clerks is a stand out film, clerks 2 was good also, but not as funny as the first

Denzel Washington at his finest, this film isn't so typically hollywood with the way it ends but non the less plenty of action and big budget explosions. It was the characters that drew me in, and the director does a great job of establishing an emotional attachment. Following a wave of kidnappings in Mexico City, a washed up CIA operative John Creasy who is drifting through life as an alcoholic (Denzel) is persuaded to become a bodyguard for a wealthy businessmans 9 year old daugher. Pita is at first barely tolerated by Creasy but she persists and brings him new found purpose in life, gradually breaking through his hard exterior.
Pita gets kidnapped... Despite being seriously wounded during the kidnapping, Creasy vows to kill anyone involved in the kidnapping, and he will go to any lengths to do so..

The only thing that ruined "Man on Fire" was the kid. Feck! Body of a 7 year-old but mind of a 40 year-old.

Mumble is a penguin who doesn't fit in with the rest of his breed. They all sing their "heart song" but he just can't hold a tune, he does however have the ability to tap dance. His differences see him ostracised from his group and blamed for the lack of fish in the ocean. He leaves and meets up with a cool bunch of Adele penguins, who also dance and they set off to meet the humans responsible for overfishing the waters so they can see the error of their ways.
Mumble eventually gets captured and placed in an aquarium but eventually manages to lead a group of conservationists to the ice floes and hopefully to a realisation that mankind is having an adverse effect on wildlife.
It's a great movie from a conservationist viewpoint, it also highlights the need to let individuals be themselves and not necessarily conform to the rest of the group. The sound track is good and the animation stunning. I can't recall ever enjoying a film more tbh and my kids loved it too.

mmmm, I hate animated movies... but loads of people are telling me that this is a top film..
I'm going through a phase of devouring South Korean films. Some absolute treats coming out of that country in recent years. Among the best I would mention are Old Boy, which is sheer class, (the whole Vengeance Trilogy is great but Old Boy is the best), Shiri and A Bittersweet Life.
South Korean directors seem to have such a refreshing attitude to making films when you are used to some of the formulaic shite being pumped out of Hollywood. The plots are unpredictable, but most of all the cinematography is usually stunning.

The Departed
Incrediby tense film from the man himself, Scorsese, about Irish cops and Irish villains slugging it out in Boston. Leonardo Di Caprio is a cop undercover in the vicious crime gang run by Jack Nicholson, at his maniacal hilarious best. That other bloke, who isn't Leonardo Di Caprio, is one of Nicholson's gang undercover in the police. So it's like other films about undercover agents, like Reservoir Dogs, but double the tension, due to there being two undercover cnuts. Add to that Scorsese's filmmaking, which is about 73 times as good as Reservoir Dogs, great dialogue, nice plot, turning the screw as it reaches the climax till you feel like Sincher's brain as he reaches a climax...
Then they feck the ending right up, ruining the film. So don't bother watching it, it's shit.
