The Monkey

A horror comedy about two brothers who inherit an evil toy monkey from their father. The titular simian causes the death of those around them in a variety of inventive, and often messy, ways.

It is quite reminiscent of the Final Destination films, in that most of the fun comes from seeing how the next death will come. There is one that involves so much stupidity on the part of the victim that it becomes eye roll worthy.

Where it falls down are the parts between The Monkey’s antics. The story is so thin it’s almost like it’s been inserted at the last moment, and serves only as a flimsy connection between the deaths.

It’s a fun cinema watch, especially with an audience that are going to react. I also enjoyed the couple of cameos the film gave us.

The Gorge (2025)

The first half was good. Build up the mystery and the romance. The second half was terrible.

4/10

I’d also give it 4/10. It felt like a glimpse into the future where AI churns out movie slop to double screen after a shite day at work, remembering nothing when it’s over. Such a crashingly mediocre bit of filmmaking.
