I am amazed at the how much Hooper gets underrated, both in this and the Test draft.
Granted he doesn't have the same records as Richards and Lara do, but he was a damn good batsman.

Yep, record never speak the complete picture, one of those fantastic batsmen of 90's era.

His lanky style while taking stance was cool as fook.
His bowling style was boss as feck as well. Dunno if it is just childhood nostalgia but I really miss late 90s cricket, just something about that era.

Yeah. Hooper was class. One of the most familiar names of that WI team. Him and Lara forged so many partnerships together.

Yup. He had that lazy elegance about him. I think we all form an attachment of sorts with the players we grow up watching, you just can't form the same connect with the newer generation. I used to absolutely worship the likes of Sachin, ganguly etc, watching every ball in some games. The connection with the sport kind of ended with them.

I mirrored my off spin action on Hooper's action. Mainly because it was easy and effortless.

His bowling action was effortless and still effective in limited over version,we on our school days followed his fashion, the stud in one ear during those school matches.

I went with TRV here. But it's close. If he wins the toss and bats (as mentioned) then there's every chance he gets a massive total on the board considering he bats until pretty much Pollock/Vettorri. And he has the batsmen to get a big total in very good time too. I love crappy's team but my worry is that they would struggle chasing a total if the rate required is above 5.5 per over. And with TRV having Pollock opening the bowling you know the brakes will be on early doors, at least from his end. Also it's an ODI so Warne's superior wicket taking ability won't come into play that much. You're looking to contain more than anything and I don't see batsmen that would attack Vettori in crappy's team. Crappy has a beautiful classic lineup and I'd watch them bat all day every day but ultimately that's the very reason I can't vote for his team. They just won't bat fast enough and if they need 70+ in the last 8 overs then I don't see his team doing it. But that's just me.

SA underrating Kallis :nono:

Anyway good game TRV.. bad draw for both of us.. you could have easily beaten about 3 teams that went through.

No underrating of Kallis at all. Kallis is an anchor. He was an inning builder and great to have if you have a batting collapse. But I recall plenty times where we decided to not send in Kallis to bat if we had to bat at a high rate chasing, especially if our start was tardy. Kallis can't quite accelerate naturally. It's never ever been his game. Batting fast for him was going at 90 SR for example. Compare that to say Amla who is also an anchor batsman but he can actually crank it up in the opening overs and maintains 90 SR right through his knock.

I did on Rajesh Chouhan's :D ..and while bowling medium-fast, Srinath's.
