Daft laddie question here but how come Ljungberg is in amongst the likes of Enzo and Prosinecki?
16 different individuals made 16 nominations for players "good but not good enough to have regularly featured/rated in previous drafts" so there was bound to be some inconsistency.Daft laddie question here but how come Ljungberg is in amongst the likes of Enzo and Prosinecki?
Do you think Lato would have been available in the next round? I had originally intended to go for someone else, but @antohan nudged me towards the Polish route.
His versatility and quality is great going forward. Poor man's Gullit.
Fair enough. Anto's resourceful enough to recover from that one anyway.16 different individuals made 16 nominations for players "good but not good enough to have regularly featured/rated in previous drafts" so there was bound to be some inconsistency.

I'll just have to hope my other choice won't be picked up.I think so and would have gambled. But then there are not many better than Lato out there, so it's a good pick.
I'm regretting that pigeon shit earlier. feck me, that was my nailed on first round pick right there.
And if I get Kalle now I'll be incensed at (Right said) Freddie.
True and Prosinecki's been horribly underrated previously. Chester had him in the last one but can't remember him getting much credit.Flip it. I think Enzo and Prosinecki (maybe Zambarotta) are the two who are a level above the rest in the league. Ljungberg would fit in well with Gallas, Senna etc...
True, I meant in terms of building a draft team if you need a versatile polyfunctional player who'd not only provide not only individual quality in various positions but also work well with players around him in various position those two would be high up the list.completely different player.
I actually had you in mind when I blocked him

I've been following these drafts only sporadically, but I can't remember Prosinečki getting picked very often - if at all - which makes him a good fit for that category IMO.Flip it. This. As good as he was for those who followed/watched him, he's not really light years ahead of someone like Ljunberg in terms of voting. Ljunberg would fit in nicely if you are playing on the counter/need an outlet next to a couple of creative players whereas building a strategy around Prosinecki is a tad more tricky.I've been following these drafts only sporadically, but I can't remember Prosinečki getting picked very often - if at all - which makes him a good fit for that category IMO.
Simonsen has a better shot at GOAT as a wingforward than most of those forwards do as strikers. He got a Ballon d'Or for starters, which most of these so-called GOATs never did.
Re: Bochini, that's the entire point. A player Maradona himself bowed to is someone you should all definitely know about and at least one of us will need to research extensively and tell us all he found out. That used to be half the fun in the drafts and it has been completely replaced by draft mechanics and the challenge of getting the usual suspects despite mechanics.
Future drafting tournaments should probably alternate between the tough criteria/sheep-style tourneys (such as this one) and the era or area specific drafts that the bring out the great tales of yore.We should do a vintage one for that. Reckon a full fledged 40s one with 16 teams, like the 50s, 60s 70s ones. Those were the ones who brought out these gems.
I whole heartedly agree.Future drafting tournaments should probably alternate between the tough criteria/sheep-style tourneys (such as this one) and the era or area specific drafts that the bring out the great tales of yore.

Great 'tache.
Did you ever do a country specific draft, i.e. only Brazilian/English/German/etc players?Future drafting tournaments should probably alternate between the tough criteria/sheep-style tourneys (such as this one) and the era or area specific drafts that the bring out the great tales of yore.
We have done one player per nation all time, just one nation for a 16 teams (16*12 players) would be carnage. We can probably do a continent one like only Europe/only SAM.Did you ever do a country specific draft, i.e. only Brazilian/English/German/etc players?

No, although there's been a United all-time one in the United forum in the past. There's also been a couple of league ones, such as the all-time Prem draft in the mains, and a 1990s Serie A and La Liga ones in the newbies. What Chester and I are keen on moving forward at a good time is British (and Irish?) one, probably post-'45. There are loads of players available for that. The 50s draft was limited to 10(?) teams which helped to maintain the quality and managerial interest.Did you ever do a country specific draft, i.e. only Brazilian/English/German/etc players?
I think that could be a lot of fun, though it might yield some obscure players if you do 16 teams.

Will be fun if you get Figo in the next round. It's really down to how many want to use wingers, there's comparatively very few of them that can really hold their own at this level and for some reason top right wingers are more scarce than left ones (not in England for the last 20 years or so, but globally over the entire period).
I actually preferred a Gaffer's draft over this. Each one of us picks one manager and the players in teams the picked manager has managed are eligible. Still snake as first pick for overlaps.
But then this was more fun. So ran this first.
Except that Senna fills a necessary role, Gallas can be shifted around across the defence, while Ljungberg pretty much nails you to certain tactics. It's an arse for that reason, there's a few setups where I would be happy to have him for the time being, just not the ones I planned for!
Will be fun if you get Figo in the next round.
Could also have a draft where we pick a league at a certain stage and everybody gets to manage one of the teams. Using the (0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1 etc) voting system, the winner could be the one who performs best in comparison to how it actually panned out.
So if somebody takes over the losing team and manages to improve them a lot they'd win ahead of somebody who picked the best team who didn't improve much.
Or we could all pick to manage one of say 16 great teams which were at a similar level. That could be really fun.
Not sure about your pick of Fernando Morena. Is he a centre forward? Or a in box striker? Maybe part of 2 strikers combo?
Think whoever got Solksjaer also is restricted to a 2 striker formation.
I'll love it when that happens, love it!
Will be fun if you get Figo in the next round.
Nah it's a great concept. Jayvin is in Australia so it's usually a wait for him to come online but so far the speed of picks has been rapid.
