.....is gonna be Djordic I reckon. We've just spent 30m and I personally can't see us shelling out another 10m or more on Duff.

I'd say there's a full back in the reserves that SAF is happy with too and whoever he might be will make a step up this year (can anyone enlighten me as to our best reserve team FB - Tierney perhaps?).

Add O'Shea and we have a nice mix of homegrown youth and great players (some who need to prove themselves) to lead the charge next season.

Long term i reckon wes is the guy, Im not keen on the nevilles (i can take the flack)and feel they both will move on when the next manager moves in but wes has the talent just not consistancy yet. mind on saying that mickel plays a good center?

i know hes not a left winger but the player i want to see break through this season is jimmy davis, hes class from what ive seen

choccy is really getting the best from these young kids

yes i know im a dick head right answer just to the wrong question

Is he good enough to make it though? And if you think he is, does that mean we do not need to buy another attacker?

Saw a report about Marco Bode on the telly earlier. He´s out of contract and will retire unless he receives an offer from an English club.

I´m not too keen on having Germans at United, but Bode´s a very nice guy, intelligent and pretty much down to earth. He wouldn´t ask for much money and would settle for a backup role. He can also be used up front and is very good at headers.

hes good enough to make it but if we could get the ice man he would be the better option.

but davis does look the biz and alot better than the few who have came though in the past 2 seasons

1. Giggs
2. Fortune
3. Djordic

is the way it is now

Djordic will probably ask for a transfer if we either buy Duff, or commit to Fortune as backup for another year.

Sign Eidur and let Forlan backup Giggsy and Becks?

I think Forlan could be a superb winger.

no the whole 2 seasons of reseve team action ive seen of him and how fortune has proformed since we got him

Of Djordic and Fortune you've gotta go with Djordic now. Quinton has had his chances and although he hasn't let himself nor United down he's just not looked to have that bit extra. It's Djordic's turn! See what he can do, if he doesn't show then go for a winger next year (bearing in mind I can't see us spending anymore this season).

Jimmy Davis I thought was a forward who's often used on the right side of midfield? If so, there's another candidate for a promotion - we need back up for Beckham too. It would be good to see the back up winger we've all spoken about in the form of two of our own youngsters.

But sign Eidur anyway

Fortune has been rather consistent since we got him wouldn't you say. He works hard and has been a loyal soldier (full international as well). And besides, Fergie obviously sees something in Djordic he doesn't like, otherwise we would've seen more of him by now.

I've been thinking that for awhile too. Just saw the hour long highlights of the Shelbourne/United match on MUTV. Diego was playing out on the right. He looked really lively...his movement was good, he seemed to link up play really well. He has 2 good feet too so he could play on the right or the left. If we played him as a backup to Becks/Giggsy, this would also take the pressure off of him in terms of scoring. Any goals would be a bonus.

I said exactly the same thing a couple of months ago.

His movement and dribbling are top notch. He´s also pretty quick.

The problem with using Forlan as a winger could be that Forlan was bought as a forward and has, to my knowledge anyway, played as a forward throughout his career and definitely so at Independiente. If you start changing him, despite him being young, then you have to be wary of another Silvestre situation. I think Forlan should be given time up front to show us why SAF bought him, not converted to a winger because we don't have a back up and he hasn't scored enough yet. If he'd have scored during every game he played or even in every other two I don't think anyone would have been touting him as a possible winger.

Forlan seems a good winger..he has a good work rate. Between Djordjic and Fortune, I'd have to say Djordjic is probably the one I'd prefer to see. Fortune has been given a lot of chances but hasn't proved himself to be Utd. class. I think it's time Djordjic got a chance.

Djordic shoulkd be Giggs' backup. whosoever comes in should just become Ruud's partner to play in the hole. even if it is Duff imo

what about Bode?

Decent player and a decent bloke I'll give you that. If he'd come to play second fiddle to Giggs then why not I spose, but he'd be short term and I think that would rule him out regardless of how much money we wouldn't have to pay him.

Davis is good . In the Worthless cup he resembled an inexpereinced Kanchelskis. But he still has long way to go before he can be similar imo. But whom is it better to learn from than Giggs and Becks on how to be wingers? ;)

.....On other things...... certain two players called Hassan Sas and Ilhan Mansiz of Turkey and spring to to mind. What about any of these for the hole guys?

Diego wants to please i'd say give him the chance is work rate is excellent

SAF has had every opportunity to give Djordic a crack at being Giggsy's back up, and every single time has chose Quinton Fortune. Lets face it, Fortune is a good squad player with an excellent work rate when given a chance. Djordic should've jumped Fortune in the LW pecking order last year and he didn't. It's only a matter of time before he leaves us for first team football elsewhere imo.

Not necessarily. Perhaps he felt the season just gone was Quinton's chance. He didn't take it. Step up Bojan, now it's his chance. Fortune will be the one on the way if you ask me.

Djordic went on loan to Sheffield Wednesday last season and he played really well. Also had a spell as a forward there which seemed to work. I think maybe he should go on loan again before he can be classed as a reliable back up for Giggsy. (like Becks went to Preston)

I think you're right Dans. From what I saw of him at Wednesday, he has what it takes certainly. Whether he can control his attitude is the question.

Dans, I was actually very surprised when he was signed. He is an excellent FORWARD for a counter-attacking game but certainly not a prolific, opportunistic, traditional STRIKER (as was apparently expected).

Of course he is young and can work his way around it but the first thing I thought was he could play in a support position or on the wings. His display, on the RW but moving into the centre at times, during the WC must have tipped the balance that way. I'm sure he will rise to the challenge and guarantee you will never get any "I prefer playing here or there" crap from him.

My thoughts exactly. He'll score lots of goals, and terrorise defenses this season with his combination of speed, dribbling and outrageous goals.

> I´m not too keen on having Germans at United

What the feck racist crap is that?

Jesus.

I can see Bojan doing a great job on the left, and Fortune is on his way out I reckon. Yorkie could drive him to Villa I think

Fortune is going nowhere....same as Bojan. Unless we buy Duff of course, in which case they're both gone.
