The Oasis Draft - QF: Pat_Mustard vs GSTQ

With players at their career peak, who would win?

The only real word evidence that is relevant in this discussion is Jinky vs Facchetti, which is fair enough. The rest doesn’t really influence the left wing situation much, where Pat has 4 players capable of going out wide.

Obviously you haven't read the thread. Let's leave it there.

@Pat_Mustard I had a look of a bit of the Souness video and he did play as DM/DLP that game.

My question though is it peak Souness? I was very surprised to see that he was the top scorer in the European Cup in the 1980/81 season with 6 goals in 8 games although I don't know how many were set pieces.

I have. I even resisted the temptation of calling you out on the “Herrera’s zona mista” :)

Nothing new though, as it often happens, we found another thing to disagree on. It would’ve been boring to agree on everything though, I think it’s partly the reason behind the low vote count lately, we’ve grown too used to each other.

Is this the furthest Keegan made it in the drafts?

I think I had some relative success with him in 4-4-2, but I can’t remember which stage I got eliminated at.

Congratulations on the win @Pat_Mustard

Respect that you didn't try to replace Charles/Keegan. Good luck going forward.

Thanks mate.

You took him all the way to a final actually, in a brilliant 4-4-2:

I'll probably have to break up that Keegan/Charles partnership in the reinforcements as I'm completely out of ideas as to how to improve the team with this pool. There's every chance I'll end up making my team worse in the process though.

I've read somewhere that Souness has said that he played the best football of his career at Sampdoria, although he was in his 30s at the time. Honestly, if I was building around Souness I'd prefer him in a more B2B role, but I do think his most notable qualities were shielding the defence, breaking up play and passing from deep rather than his attacking surges. Maybe @Gio could weigh in on his style of play and best role.

His 6 goals in that European Cup campaign were a pair of hat-tricks vs a Finnish team and then CSKA Sofia, with just one penalty. Some superb finishes by him vs Sofia:
