Our next 8 games are both very important and also very winnable:

Betis (H) - Europa League
Southampton (H) - PL
Betis (a) - Europa League
Fulham (H) - FA Cup
Newcastle (a) - PL
Brentford (H) - PL
Everton (H) - PL
Forest (a) - PL

So in the miserable aftermath of the historic defeat to Liverpool, I want your predictions. How will we fare across this run of games?

The only sticky fixture there is Newcastle away but they're in horrid form.

If we can get 2/3 goals up against Real Betis it means we can rest some for the second leg.

We should be winning all of our home ties - don't see anything there that makes me think otherwise.

Betis (H) Win
Southampton (H) Win
Betis (a) Draw
Fulham (H) Win
Newcastle (a) Loss
Brentford (H) Draw
Everton (H) Win
Forest (a) Win

All in all, 5 wins, 2 draws and a defeat.

The international break after Fulham can’t come soon enough. Hope we get some ’muscle tweaks’ after the Fulham game, namely Rashford, Bruno, Casemiro etc

With the exception (and this is a massive maybe) of the Newcastle away game, we shouldn't really be dropping points in these fixtures if we're serious about solidifying top 4 and competing in the Europa. The Newcastle one should be a draw at worst, simply because of the awkward shithouse way that they're playing.

We all know these fixture runs never go as predicted in any event, but for my money's worth we're looking at 7 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses from this run if we're a serious team.

I’m probably being overly pessimistic but our current form has not blown me away even if we’ve been winning. I really hope I’m wrong

Hard to say. This season we've been mostly decent at putting away smaller teams but yesterday will have seriously dented our confidence.

I definitely expect to struggle in both games against Betis. The five league fixtures I expect to end with something like 3-1-1. Newcastle will probably avenge the cup final and we'll have a frustrating draw against one of Southampton, Brentford, or Everton. Maybe even two.

The FA Cup game... I dunno, I don't really care. City will win that cup in all likelihood anyway.

Also worth noting that across that same period Liverpool (currently in fifth) face the following in the league:

Bournemouth(a)
City(a)
Chelsea(a)
Arsenal(H)
Leeds (a)

So if they drop points across those games we could potentially be even more secure in the top four by the end of this run.

I mean, those aren't even a bad run of results. How are you being "overly pessimistic"? The one and only really bad result is being knocked out of the Europa by Betis but, considering our results against Spanish teams over the last few decades it wouldn't be a huge shock.

Some tactical international window injuries would very much be appreciated.

I agree with you really, I did edit the Southampton from a draw to a win and then the Fulham from a loss to a win to not look like a total doom monger and maybe I was really just thinking the worst without editing the initial paragraph.

I’m just not instilled with a lot of confidence at the moment, and that was before yesterday.

WWDWLWWW which should leave us in third place, in semi of FA Cup and quarters of Europa.

My predictions

WWDWLDWD

Think we will get 8/15 in league unfortunately but with other teams sure to lose points I think we will still be in top 4, just.

I don't think it's unrealistic to think top 4 is now ours to throw away, as bad as our loss to Pool was the fact Newcastle and spurs lost really cements our place in my mind now we've played our hardest games.

PL: Newcastle has draw written all over it and Brentford always cause us issues but otherwise I think we'll win the rest.
EL: I'm not majorly fussed, I think we've paid a horrible price for playing to many games in that big loss and I'd rather we rotated heavily for the EL.
FA: This is the major domestic comp and is a great cup to win, I'm hopeful on this one and think we have a real chance.

Next three home games are crucial. Would take a draw in the away one vs Newcastle. But in the three home games - Southampton, Everton and Brentford we need to play with proper control and intensity

The squad is still relatively similar to that of old regimes.

I think we're in for a tough few weeks as yesterday is the worst result in the league for donkeys years. It's plastered all over every outlet in the world and every single individual is being scrutinized.

The mentally weak ones in this squad who only rise to the challenge after a sustained period of shit with falter once again.

However accountable EtH is or isn't, he's got his work cut out here to try and keep their heads up. If he can get through this period without another defeat, he is definitely the one. But I can't see it happening, I think bad habits will come back.

After yesterday's complete collapse, I wouldn't be happy with anything other than 8 wins out of 8 in those upcoming fixtures.

Don't expect us to play scintillating football and bang in lots of goals. Want to see a major course correction, a restoring of the conviction we've showed for large parts of the season. Be very hard to beat and get the results at all costs. Imperative we don't let one freak result drag us back down from where we've come.

Don’t ask for much do you??

Utterly ridiculous thought process

Betis just drawn with Real Madrid, will be a tricky one, it's actually not that bad we start with a home game, because it's sure better chance to bounce back at Old Trafford than it would be away. Fixture list looks favourable, glad we don't have to face any of the top 5-6 teams immediately after the massacre.

Betis (H) Win
Southampton (H) Win
Betis (a) Draw
Fulham (H) Win
Newcastle (a) I want to say Draw but I think they'll want revenge for the cup final and play out of their skins
Brentford (H) Win
Everton (H) Win
Forest (a) Win

I expect many of our squad to give up. Toxic leaks from some of the clowns and the usual excuses. We will exit fairly tamely v Betis. City will beat us in the cup if we get far enough to meet them. We might just hang on for 4th.

It's Erik's first real test. A historic 7-0 hammering to our most bitter of rivals, it's almost insurmountable to get us right back into form. I expect a hangover of sorts over the next few games at least.

Brentford and that cock Frank's I hope we beat them , he wil come with a swagger . Newcastle away they will have a point to prove. Southampton fighting for there lives.

I just want to see how they respond after that shit show on Sunday. Need to beat Betis and well to bounce back take that into the Southampton game home again and go from there.

Betis (H) - Europa League
Southampton (H) - PL
Betis (a) - Europa League
Fulham (H) - FA Cup
Newcastle (a) - PL
Brentford (H) - PL
Everton (H) - PL
Forest (a) - PL

Betis twice in a week is harsh, good pressing Spanish side. I don't see us going past them, no matter the fluke against Barca, so I guess it's a draw and a lose.
Southampton - should be easy win even with 2nd string team
Fulham - loss
Newcastle- draw/loss
Brentford - win
Everton - win
Forest - win

Betis will drain our 1st team even more and I think the last part of the season won't be as pink as people are expecting it to see.

Glad we're playing Fulham (H) instead of Brighton (A) after the Betis (A), that would have been the next loss.

Aside from a Newcastle (A) finding back form I honestly think we should be winning all of them.

Betis (H) Win
Southampton (H) Win
Betis (a) Draw
Fulham (H) Win
Newcastle (a) Loss
Brentford (H) Draw
Everton (H) Win
Forest (a) Win

All in all, 5 wins, 2 draws and a defeat.

Think this is realistic, doubt there's going to be more than one loss. You would expect them to be ashamed and work even harder, but I also thought we were gonna win yesterday so maybe take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Betis (H) - Europa League – WIN
Southampton (H) - PL – WIN
Betis (a) - Europa League – DRAW
Fulham (H) - FA Cup – WIN
Newcastle (a) - PL – LOSS
Brentford (H) - PL – DRAW
Everton (H) - PL – WIN
Forest (a) - PL – WIN

Going for progress in both cups, a loss at SJP and one random draw like the one we had against Leeds. Southampton, Everton and Forest should be wins, and let's hope for a better draw in the next Europa League round (at least not another Spanish team!). That would give 60 points from 30 games, which sees us heading to 75-80 points for the full season and a comfortable Top 4 finish.

FFS youd think weve just lost about 5 on the bounce. we should be heavy favourites to win all those games.
