Will Nike make football boots to match their basketball offering?

When I think gingham I think of Ben Sherman shirts, not United shirts.

not horrible?? I cant imagine anything more horrible than that

It's subtle enough that your going to have to be pretty close to see it much, so the players hopefully won't look like they're wearing picnic tablecloths unless you're close up. After seeing this my standards have lowered:

They should have at least gone for a fancy collar to go with the pattern, the simple collar just reinforces the pajama theme.

Well, it's a football shirt, a good number of them have been fashion sins. I just don't want to the players to look like idiots, can't be good for morale.

Nonsense. In the 50s and 60s, United and Liverpool's kits both came off the same peg. It's common for the shade of red to change slightly for all teams that wear it nowadays due to the manufacturing process (as well as over-thinking by the designers).

Our colours are indeed red, white and black. Our colours do not stretch to having white sleeves though. Also, Arsenal's new kit has navy trim, not black.

Oh yawn. Thank you for clarifying that these teams do have different shades, like I said. It's not that big of a deal, I don't really care enough for these 'facts'.

Obviously it wouldn't be quite the same colours then would it. I said why couldn't we have that shirt because I like it, not because it's conventional United.

Are the bolt, eyelet and screwdriver just a few of the ingredients used to make that fabric?

Yeah I didn't get that either. 'Forged in industry', well, what industry was Manchester famous for? Oh yeah, cotton and textiles. And shirts come under that bracket so why not have an old sewing machine or something. A screwdriver makes no sense.

Personally, in that picture, I don't think it looks that bad.

Do like the red socks, even though it's moving away from the tradition

I like the red socks but I'm thinking it might be because they distract from the shirt

The socks will be black, from those mock ups Hal has just posted it was originally thought that the red socks were for Arsenal and the black were for United. The actual socks for Arsenal are in that same style but white, so it's likely that they're the change socks.

To be honest if we were to have different coloured socks, I'd much prefer that they were white. But then, I'd much prefer the collar to be white, the same kind of collar on the sleeves and the shirt to have no checked pattern either. Basically, the 2006 shirt without the gold piping.

Nike should just go full retro and have different vintage kit from every year we won the league.

United's home kit looks very sharp, IMHO...Personally, I don't particularly like that plaid pattern but overall it works I think...I bet those will sell a boatload more...Whoever wears red boots is gonna look badass

Barça's?...Geez, the horror continues...Well, it at least looks a bit better than this year's kit, for me, but why aren't the socks even matching?

Well, I think most people would take the opposite view if Nike gave us that Arsenal design, but there's no accounting for taste and/or colour blindness.

Also, I didn't say that those teams had uniquely different shades of red, but that each team has worn many shades of red over the years.

Which of these is "United red":

It could be worse, we be turning blue.

Blue murder as Cardiff turn red

THE Far Eastern tycoon who owns soccer’s Cardiff City stunned fans yesterday by declaring the team have to DUMP their historic blue strip.

Malaysian magnate Vincent Tan wants the side — nicknamed the BLUEBIRDS — to switch to RED.

He is convinced it is a more “lucky” colour after the Championship side came within an ace of promotion to the Premier League — only to lose in the play-offs to West Ham.

Fans of the club, which has sported blue for more than a century, were outraged last night as it emerged the change will be rubber-stamped within a fortnight.

At first, many thought it was a joke.

A lucky DRAGON may also replace the bluebird on the club’s crest, which is likely to mean the team gets a new nickname.

In return, Mr Tan’s Malaysian consortium will agree to wipe out Cardiff’s £20million debt and build a new training ground.

A source said of Cardiff stars such as Ben Turner donning the new kit next season: “This is crazy and incredibly bizarre. The owner believes red is a more positive colour than blue.

“A third of the fans are against it and another third still think it is a wind-up.

“But a third would not care if Cardiff played in pink — providing they got promotion to the Premier League.”

Mr Tan, 59 — who is worth £800million — is convinced the idea will lead to a change of fortunes for his side.

Cardiff came within a whisker of winning the Carling Cup this season but lost on penalties to Liverpool in the final.

The side also made the promotion play-offs. But over two legs against West Ham they failed to score — as their opponents netted a total of five.

Cardiff’s owners say they will give boss Malky Mackay more money next season to take the club into the top flight.

Talk about new owners not giving a fig about tradition.

So they're doing a Swansea? Let's make ourselves as overtly Welsh as possible.

The Arsenal kits fine (possibly even nice), the United kit is weird but the Barca kit is just shit. At least yours is interesting. The Barca one is just shit and ugly.
