This logic is flawed because Jose had us overperforming all of last season.
1.5 points per game is about what you should expect of the current squad. This is what LVG and Jose in his first season were averaging.
Yes Jose did spend to strenghten the squad but so did others clubs and aside of Spurs they've all been better than us on the transfer market
Stop talking BS, we have outspend every club. Mourinho took control of man utd 5th only on goal difference from the 4th City, spend more than every other team in the league except city, but in the end, in 8th position.

I lost faith in Jose a while ago. To any remaining Jose fans please watch the highlights of the womans teams game tonight.

They played as a team, scored after 35 seconds but continued to dominate possession and create chance after chance against a very physically strong side who defended tenaciously.

The team worked as a cohesive unit, with some rehearsed plays and worked hard for each other for 95 minutes.

You might remember that sort of thing, it's called effective team management and Casey Stoney is currently showing Jose up.

Oh you will also remember that it's a game that's supposed to be an enjoyable experience to watch also!

Wow! Give her the job then! :D

The youth team played some nice attacking football under McKenna and we have little to lose.
If it was possible to get poch later, and keep McKenna then as part of his coaching staff it would be good I think.
Also have the director of football in place.

There are talented youth players here, we should play them, and maybe we might see a resurgence in excitement at least, and be true to our history.
This sums up my ideal scenario perfectly!

Right now we are worse than the sum of our parts. All players have regressed under Mourinho. He has to go.

8th place, 16 points off top, can't even beat Wolves, West Ham, Southampton, Palace or Brighton. If its not time for him to go now then I'm not sure what needs to happen. But what's the point of debating this, we all know its in the contract that once top 4 is not mathematically possible is the time the board will sack him. Same as Moyes and LVG. So write off this season, yeah another season gone before December is out, and endure mid table mediocrity before the board make another mess of appointing a manager. Probably another Chelsea reject, Conte. I wouldn't put it past Woodward to appoint him. I really wouldn't.

Though its probably true, I can't allow myself to believe that the club will wait until this point simply to save us some cash. It would destroy any last faith I have in the current regime.

I prefer to believe that the club have some targets secured for January and it will represent the last chance saloon for Jose to prove he can do something here.

Think about how excited and full of hope we'll be when we get a new manager and DoF to take the team forward, hopefully people who fit the Manchester United culture and philosophy

Chelsea fired Mourinho on Dec 17th after winning a league title - his 3rd one at the club. Why the feck have we stuck with him this long?

Mourinho is going to go one way or the other, so why not NOW. We might even have a chance of going further in Champions League and maybe in the FA cup also, if we brought in a top manager now. We are not going anywhere with Mourinho.

What even is that anymore? We need to become a modern football club. It can never be run by one person again. We are going to have some years in the wilderness ahead of us I fear.

He had Fellaini breaking in Woodward's mansion and stealing his nudes. Now he's got a leverage on Woody.

I'd like to see Mourinho and ask him if he feels any personal shame.

Im not excusing any manager for anything. I was asked if I thought it's right that Jose challenged Woodward publically and I thought it was. I'd want any manager to challenge Woodward because he's fecking shite.

He fails to wrap up multiple transfers because of his blue sky thinking and the concept of realism goes out the window.

I'm not referring to wilian or martial before you start mouthing off making shit up about that. I'm referring to him claiming the available transfers would have been 5th choice here (when they fecking wouldn't have) and him name dropping Varane as a player he'd want.

He's not a DoF and he's not meant to get involved in the footballing side really. Talking about quality of centre backs and undermining the manager will only result in challenge back, and rightly so. It doesn't matter if its Mourinho Pep or anyone else.

Now stop saying I'm trying to justify Jose as a manager because I'm not. Read my posts and understand the point I'm making so you can discuss properly or feck off
Then it becomes fair if Pogba and other players challenge how shit we are set up in public. Since people are free to challenge their bosses in public, don't you think?

What escape are we talking about?? Media, fans and most pundits are blaming him for almost everything. Unless someone is expecting some kind of confession from him, there is nothing more left to be blamed.

Read my post again...

Fair. I just don’t know what identity we have anymore. If the dof has to answer to Woodward I don’t see the appointment having any positive effect. I also don’t trust Woodward or the glazers to pick the right person either. I feel that As long as we are stuck with Woodward we aren’t winning anything.

He means, "Stop blaming the players and Woodward and look at yourself".

He means, "Stop blaming the players and Woodward and look at yourself".
So we are expecting him to confess that his methods are a problem. We are never going to get a confession like that from Jose. And I doubt any high profile manager would agree it publicly.
Moyes, still thinks he would have done wonders if given proper time.

Finally changed my vote from needs more time to he’s got to go.

I think enough is enough now, it was touch and go around the Sevilla time but I always thought we’d pull through and something was just waiting to click, through all the negative stuff he said to the media, whenever anyone called for his head, through the following months I always thought we’ll click at some point.
looking back that was probably wishful thinking and a deep rooted United belief that we always come back, sadly that belief was instilled over many years by a different man, one that will never be replaced and I’m slowly and agonisingly realising that’s not the United we are anymore and need to stop with the wishful thinking.

My thoughts now have turned more to worry, Mourinho is alienating or at least seems to be killing the morale of too many players, I’m worried there’ll be an exodus of our better players and we will not have the champions league place or the proposed future to be able to sign more top end players.
We have passed the few years where we passed it off as a lull post fergie and we’ll be back to now being consistetly mid table for a few seasons, last year exception I know but that wasn’t clear cut either.

He needs to go by Christmas, get in someone to boost morale, get some forward attacking drills coached as we look clueless and start again next season.

I haven’t got the answers and don’t know what direction we should go re a new manager but surely now, we know it’s nkt Mourinho.

This joker is going to do lasting damage to the club if players like Pogba and De Gea leaves before him.

I hope we could start a "feck off" Mourinho chant in the next home game.

Lets look at yesterday's game. Immediately is became obvious that Dalot was having problems. Jose should have subbed him at least at half time for Valencia.
Then he should have bought on Pogba for Matic and put Anders in the position on Matic.
I think this team can do a lot better than this. Stick to a set of players. Not Matic and Lukaku of course.

That is not going to happen. Jose will get the sack when we do not make top 4, and we wont make top 4.
Pogba and De Gea will have time to evaluate things with the new manager.

I think 60,000 people telling him to feck off would be hard to ignore. No matter how you try to cover it up. I’m just waiting for Jose to pull the yellow and gold scarf trick before he’s finally given the boot.

Exactly. People need to realise what kind of catastrophe it would be for the club to miss out on top 4. With Dea Gea and Martial’s contract issues and Pogba’s situation it looks bad, really bad.

And don’t tell me “LVG missed out on top 4” and we were fine. It’s not the same situation. Back then it seemed more like a one-off. The general consensus was that Man Utd will be fine. Now it looks more like a trend and that we should be ready to spent a few more years in mediocrity. Not to mention the negative image, that Mourinho is making sure of.
Look at it this way - if we finish 6th, would we have been able to sign a Pogba and a Zlatan in the summer of 2019?

It’s horrendous. If that was a maths test in school, 25% would be classed as failure!

How could anyone put even a slight positive spin on this is beyond belief!

That's a very good way to look at it. 25% isn't even a lower grade - it's an outright fail!
I wish that the journos used this speak to say that 25% from CP, Southampton and Arsenal is a fail. Do you accept this and what are you doing to correct this?

Ok so maths, school and the fail word all together with the question, “What are you doing to correct this”?
Well to hell with the ban on corporal punishment smack his bottom, put him on the naughty step with a dunces hat and then give him a 100 lines
“ I am the Manchester United manager, I must play attacking entertaining winning football and do a lot better”.

Failing that just sack him!

How is he still in a job?
Because the expectations of this board are so low now. They set a target of top 4 and that's it. Once it's mathematically impossible he will get the sack as then they will not have to pay as much. Surely they need to realise that to continue with this top 4 minimum rubbish it will eventually lead to the fan base dwindling which in turn will lead to lower revenue, dwindling shirt sales etc etc. The club can not continue to dine out on past glories forever.

No, and I've addressed why players speaking out is different in previous posts.

Match going fans were booing LVG during that Dec-Jan then realized the board weren't going to do squat and let up. We have to be close to that point if it hasn't started already.

I’m not actually blaming Mourinho any more.

For me, the blame is now squarely at the feet of the incompetent board for not sacking him.

If they value saving on a compensation fee over saving our season on the pitch, then feck them. They won’t get another penny off of me.

Dreading the game against Fulham. Even if we win, we will either make it very hard for ourselves by having to come from behind, or we will score 1, relinquish possession, and sit deep after.:(
