The Masters 2009

What's wrong with Tiger, he is a fecking icon. He revoloutionized the sport, and is the reason there is so much money in golf right now.

No he fecking didn't. He sparked the interest in the American golf fan because your sorry assed tour struggled for a decade before he came along.

Golf was doing just fine before Tiger, nothing has changed much, and it will be fine when he is long gone.

I'll say one thing about the Tiger Woods phenomenon, 'Get in the hole' is fecking deplorable. Clubs should throw spectators out who do it.

Phil was playing a lot better than Tiger all day yet they score one shot different. Cabrera played at being a lumberjack on the first playoff hole, and goes onto win.

Its a funny old game.

Yeah... the end was a bit weird... I mean how did both Perry and Campbell screw up the second shot on the first playoff hole? That's about as regulation a pitch that they could've asked for. Just shows what pressure does to even the best and most experienced!

Neither of these players deserve to win based on todays performance.
Both hacked around the course. Cabrera looked lost on the front and Perry couldn't take control. I'd bet if Lefty or Woods had been able to put up a -10 or -11 these tw would have folded up.

... like everyone else said, 4 rounds... tiger played like shit early in the weekend and wasn't in a favorable position, well earned by these 3 men, all 3 deserved a chip in, Angel got lucky and took advantage when it counted.

Lets see how Tiger is playing at 48 years old.......probably on two sticks with his fecked up knees.

Time will tell; incidentally how was Perry doing at Tiger's age?

Owned

Great tournament this year, McIlroy finished very well, might be him some day.

If he wasn't so inexperienced he'd probably be in a shout, showed glimpses of masterful (no pun intended) golf in the first round and 1/2

Wow

1. The fact you took me saying i'd lost respect in you is a bit of a joke, considering it's a discussion about golf, all in good fun and I hoped it would spark a bit of knowledge as opposed to a comeback someone younger than I would use.

2. I don't remember because I was barely alive/wasn't born, i'll admit that... however I grew up in a very golf-conscience household and with technology and such It's not a far cry to say you understand Golf in the 80's, 70's and before without being alive to see, so thats irrelevant. The fact you drooped to that level of argument shows you have nothing further to say, it's quite clear you have a problem with Tiger that goes a little beyond the golf.

3. Tiger has sparked interest WORLDWIDE, and has taken with it a new generation of Golf fans... before Tiger, your average, 6 year old youth wouldn't be so interested in gold... Urban youth and under-privledged peoples probably wouldn't have taken an interest in the game... Minorities of both African and Asian descent now follow the game in bunches and have taken fancy to other golfers from their nations who have strived for success. As well, Tigers dominance and record breaking performances allow us younger golf fans to dwell and research into the past and learn about legends like Palmer, Jack, and so on.

It's 100% ignorance and uneducated to limit Tiger's impact on the game to solely Americans and the American game... and to bring his knees and the crowds that follow him into a discussion on his impact of the game is quite sad to be honest, because Tiger haters only look at the negatives and try to flip any covnersation against him.

My age and knowledge of golf may not be as senior as yours, but because of Tiger and technology, i'm proud to be a fan of golf during these times, without ignoring the history of this great game... then there's bitter folks like yourself who tell us "young" folk (If 20 is really young) how the game is to be played and supported... Clutching straws.

Feel free to continue this debate but to be honest there's no point in it.

Firstly my rant was because you insulted me so don't try and take the high ground FFS.

You are jumping to a lot of conclusions. I like Tiger but the game is way bigger than any player. I enjoy watching any player from any country excel at golf. If Tiger happened to be South African or British the American public wouldn't give a crap about him. Obviously TRUE golf fans would appreciate him but the media and public hype would be nowhere near as over blown.

I hear many people say they only watch when Tiger is playing, just the sort of fan that will serve golf over the long haul.

And don't over estimate Tiger effect on World Golf. I spent much of the 80s and 90s in the golf club on a regular basis and British and European golf was incredibly buoyant back then. There are several tours that do just fine without Tiger.
