I've read the spoilers just to get it out the way and all I can say is I'm looking forward to it.
I've tried twice to play through the original and it just didn't grip me at all. It was OK, but I didn't think it was anything great. May try and give it another go ready for this.
I wasnt that blown away either. One extremely grating thing is the girl's cloak of invisibility in stealth sections. She just walks out in the open and is ignored. So fecking silly.
From everything I've seen this is right up there with Game of Thrones season 8 in terms of absolute wankery.
Gutted for the people who are mega loyal to this....

You’d prefer to have AI spoil your cover all the fecking time? I think the game would have been borderline unplayable if they hadn’t made that choice.
I think an RE4 Leon/Ashley mechanic would've worked better in hindsight. Tell her hide somewhere, or you can craft her a shiv which she could use to save herself from an enemy. Upgrade the shiv and it gets more uses. Making her invisible was laziness on the devs part and treating players like simpletons.
I should be in game development. This is gold.
They could've just let her hide somewhere in a corner. I understand the decision, but it just looked so silly.
I think that would've weakened her character considerably. Ellie needed to have a mind of her own and not be some helpless child to be ordered around. It might look a little dodgy in gameplay terms but it's just one of those situations where you have to suspend your disbelief. I'm glad they did it this way.
Yeah, same. Ellie was a bad-ass and had to have more agency than that. To each their own but I had no issue with suspending disbelief for that.

After reading the spoilers, leaker actually saved me some money, cheers, I am skipping this, not going to be even close to the quality of the original. Plus all the agenda pushing in it...bloody hell.

Awesome story though, has to be said.
For me, TLOU was just practice for uncharted 4 (puts helmet on in preparation for the rocks being thrown at me).
I loved the main gamepley but combat gamepley was a bit clunky at times and made me dread meeting some enemies, not the threat itself.
No doubt I’ll try the new one but it won’t be because I love the original.

Yes, poor storytelling offends my brain. Strange, right? Some people will buy whatever just because they are "fans of the franchise" and swallow it up, I am too old to gobble any bullshit they give just because it has "TLOU" slapped on it.
And I am done here, I know some people will defend this game just because the expectations were so high so they wont accept bad things about it.

Nah I just haven't read the leaks because I want to enjoy the game, but hey, that's just me.
at the end of the day, it's still a videogame. If God of War had a shit story I'd have still played it because the combat was so good. Same with this.
Maybe stop posting in here then, people who haven't read the leaks don't want opinions from those who have.

I can understand you posting this after the game has released and you are able to decide if you dislike the narrative. But just to assume itll be bad, because seemingly you have an issue with the "agenda" suggests you may have been slightly biased.
I certainly wont fall into your category of people that lap anything up because it's TLOU because while I enjoyed the first one it was nothing more than a bog standard action game with an above average story.

Well what agendas were you referring to because beyond the lesbian angle with Ellie I struggle to see anything that could even be considered an agenda.
You can't claim the writing is bad until we've actually seen the game in its entirety. Similarly I couldn't claim it was good until then either. Many plots sound horrendous when explained, but when all the parts come together they work and create an entertaining story. Films like John Wick come to mind where the plot sounds ridiculous but in the confines of that universe it works and is entertaining.
I've read the leaks and they do not indicate the quality of the writing, just the broad strokes of the overall story. How you can conclude the writing is bad from that, I don't know.

Again, that's not the point. This exact same thing happened with Game of Thrones and it ultimately ended with people being told to shut the feck up about their opinions on the leaks. I don't want to know what your opinion on the story is. People giving their opinions both puts stuff in the heads of those who haven't read the leaks and makes it more likely others will inadvertently spoil elements of the game.
If you want to discuss the leaks then make a different thread or go to PM. Why is that so difficult to comprehend? It always baffles me that people think it's OK to discuss them in these threads when it's so easy to f*ck off and make another thread or PM to do it.
