The Lack Of Maturity In The Current United Squad

It should be noted that the dancing was the next day at training, not immediately in the dressing room after the loss. It's not ideal, but it's also not as big a deal as people make out. Even Rooney in that same interview said they were doing nothing wrong.

There's a pretty strong argument that it was less unprofessional and a better way to relax than going home and having a few smokes or a few drinks like what Rooney would do.
They're also still human beings who might express themselves a bit differently than previous generations. If it was immediately after a game or the same night it might be a problem.

I’m also sure that plenty of managers whose teams are going through a hard time will have responded to that by trying to get the players relax and enjoy themselves. It’s clearly just the reputations of the specific players that have clouded some people’s judgements.

I think generally the players in our current squad seems to be very mature. They all know they have to work hard and give their all for the team. Sure, there are quite a few inexperienced players that make errors during the game, but I don't doubt their commitment to the team.

Rashford and Sancho on the other hand (seen from the outside), are examples of players who has a lack of maturity. Their attitude stinks, and it has/had a negative effect on the team. I would love to have 18 year old Rashford back. His maturity has somehow reversed with age.

When you play for United, with incredibly high expectations, you need to know how to behave. I'm happy that we've no longer got any Lingard or Pogba types in the squad. Those ridiculous dance celebrations really pissed me off. It's okay to celebrate if you've got something to celebrate. But there is no need to act like a fool, when the team is underperforming and not living up to expectations.

Fair enough! I don't think it's appropriate, though. To me that says they are lacking hunger and focus. They should have been angry after losing. If you were the manager, would you find that appropriate? I understand we are human etc... I just don't think it sends the right message.

Your point on Rooney - yes absolutely. The only thing I'd reply back with that is, Rooney always showed up and for years did the dog work. He produced restults.

If Rooney had looked after himself, he could well have given us an extra two or three years at a decent level and (at the very least) helped us win a couple more trophies and led by example to help the likes of Rashford, Lingard etc.

Now I don't necessarily blame him really for switching off a tad fitness wise in his later years but he loses the right to criticise others apparent lack of professionalism.

It's also worth noting that every big group of successful young United players have played with a core of older experienced players. The class of 92 had Bruce, Pallister, Cantona etc.

Rooney himself and Ronaldo had some members of the class of 92 when they arrived.

Rooney could and probably should have been that player for the likes of Rashford, Lingard and possibly beyond that with Januzaj, Depay etc who all struggled to develop with the pressure of playing at OT.

Looking at Rashford’s United career, it's almost a minor miracle that he achieved what he did given the circus the club has been throughout his time. At the absolute worst, we've seen what can happen with Williams and Greenwood when there's a real lack of leaders and positive characters in the dressing room.

I think the biggest problem last night was an experienced goal scorer missing. This leads into my point - it's good to have youth, but we need an experienced forward ASAP.

I'm all for youth - but we've and every other successful team have had experience there to wield the youth in, not only rely on them.
