The Greatest Song Covers Ever Thread

Ah, this has really got me thinking. Some other good covers -

Aretha Franklin - Respect (Otis Redding )
Nirvana - Lake of Fire (The Meat puppets)
GnR - Knocking on Heavens Door ( Bob Dylan)
Wallflowers - Heroes ( David Bowie )

What about "the man who sold the world" that is a brilliant cover too.

Oh yeah. How could i forget .. Was it David Bowie with the original or was it someone before him ?

Bowie was the original, there cover of "where did you sleep last night" is also brilliant. And I always liked "love buzz" too. Apparently they did a version of the doors' "The end" on Outcesticide II which could be worth a listen.

The manics do a good version of "pennyroyal tea" too and there version of "raindrops keep falling on my head" is absolutely superb.

my favourite cover of "where did you slepp last night" is "in the pines" by link wray.

nirvana's version of the end is a load of nonsense..its just a complete feck around...their best cover is mollys lips or as you said love buzz...though ive always liked their bash at the velvets here she comes.
