Haven't exactly seen Sir Bobby play in real life so...... ZIDANE :D

Sir Bobby no doubt, but for some reason when I read the thread first - the first name that popped into my head was Johnny Metgod (don't ask why). Anyone remember him ? He wasn't bad.......

Cheers, it's not difficult he was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. So was Best although I never thought Law was in the same class as those two, I'm amazed he gets lumped in with them as equals,, probably because they were from the same era.

Funny how peoples' perceptions are different. I saw a lot of that 60's team and always thought Denis Law was the best of the three, especially from the consistency point of view.

Ian Rush was probably at that same level as a natural goalscorer.

I think Law was rated so highly because of his poacher's instinct and ability to score 'somehow' from the most unlikely circumstances.

When I was young I preferred Bobby to George - it was a little later that my allegiance changed - probably because Best was so different, whereas Charlton was like an exceptionally good version of more orthodox players (but with skills drawn from many).

Denis was absolutely brilliant. :nono:

He wasn't bald though....

The only striker I'd put in the same class as Rush was Jimmy Greaves. I'm not saying Law wasn't a great player, he obviously was but Rushy and Greaves were the best I ever saw in England. I'll get burbned for this but the young Robbie Fowler should have become better than all of them.

It's all opinions I suppose.

Metgod was an expert on dead balls within 30 yards on goal - the baldy cnut rattled in a few against us in his time..

Incidentally, i once played against boncho guenchev when he was a bit older, he was fecking shit hot! I think he was part of that squad?

He was but didn't get much playing time. Came in as a sub three times during that World Cup as far as i can remember.

"Ahhh Letchkov! fantastic call! How much i loved that goal against germany in 94, sweet world cup kraut defeating heaven!"

I was at that match. My father took me when I was a 16. Absolutely Incredible. One of the best moments of my childhood.

Who put the ball in the German's net?
Iordanov Letchkov!
