Reports in respected Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo reveal that Real Madrid are set to sell six stars in the January transfer window. The six set for the exit door are Mahamadou Diarra, who has been linked with Arsenal, former Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy who has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Argentine international Fernando Gago, former Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, Dutch international Royston Drenthe, previously linked with Chelsea, and German defender Christopher Metzelder.

The news will put the a host of Europe's top clubs on alert with Madrid president Florentino Perez looking to ease the clubs wage bill following last summer's 250 million euro blow out.

If a severed head in a bag scored a goal once it would attract interest from Spurs.

With the exception of Ruud and Dudek (whose declines have not been as pronounced), there's four of the brightest players, who have been bastardised by that piece of shit club

I'd want Van der Vaart, I'd happily have him at the top of the Chelsea diamond.

Dudek is going nowhere, I'd take Ruud on pay as you play bassis.

No, we don't need him. I'd rather Owen and the youngsters get more game time than spending money on an old striker.

I wish people would stop posting transfer crap outside of the transfer forum, as if doing so somehow makes it more credible.

Just stop it.

I don't feckin know now do I ? I don't follow Madrid. I do know he's the golden boy of Madrid and is somewhat unsellable lest a public riot

He is a Legend and still produces the goods.. It would be the equivalent of us putting up Neville, Scholes and Giggs for sale..

they aren't going to sell VdV? he wasn't even given a squad number in the summer.

i know he's getting some games now, but surely they want rid.

If anyone threw £20million in their face they'd hardly be in a position to turn it down you'd imagine, something to bare in mind also is that he hasn't played in the champions league this season so he would be a fantastic buy to make.

Ferguson would send them on loan to Scunthorpe if they tried to influence the club as much as Raul does at Real.

Yes and he would have every right to.. That is why I support Manchester United and no other club in the world.. Real Madrid are a joke of a club and that has been a known fact for many a year.. I pity their fans actually..

Drenthe was never that good.

Metzelder was always going to have an injury-ravaged career. Talented as he is he was always a massive risk, which is why Madrid were the only team to go in for him. He averaged 15 games a season for Borussia Dortmund in his previous 6 seasons before he moved to Madrid - not their fault in the slightest.

The only player they deserve any criticism for is Diarra, as he did look impressive at Lyon.

I would have got rid of Raul years ago, but that's just me. Anyway apparently he's considering retiring at the end of this season but he's said that before so I expect another 10 years from him. Mahamadou is actually a very good player, so I don't know if they would want to get rid of him. He can be bak up for 'Lass' but is that what he would prefer?

Gago is the worst midfielder for a top club I've ever seen,I'm not sure who in their right minds would want him from the big 4. Or as Glaston would say Sky4. When he plays, it is like he's purposely throwing the match, passing to the opposition on purpose. Even against Spain the other day, he was up to his old tricks. I don't know what his problem is. Drenthe is a better left back than Marcelo, Marcelo is no left back so he might be kept as a back up.

VDV I have no real opinion on, I see him play and I don't see what the big deal is but he only has played a limited and infrequent number of times for Madrid.

All of 'em are too old or too shit

Drenthe is without a role, he is not a left back and he is not a winger
RVN, ready for PSV
Gago, too slow for the P.L., could play in Serie A for AC Milan, Inter or Roma
Metzelder ready for Dortmund
Dudek ready for Feyenoord
Diarra overrated during his entire career, could be good for Spurs, Arsenal, Roma

Gago is strange. He can be a good player at times, but then at others... yeah. He has potential, don't know whether he'll fulfil it.

Fingers crossed it's kansas city. We desperately need a striker.
he's too good for mls

ruud would make an impact at the vast majority of premier league and all italian clubs IMO

if he can get fitness and games

Most times I've seen Gago he looks as if he's got something even if he hasn't put it all together.

Yeah but you've gotta think about what his wage demands would be when hypothetically adding him to a mid-lower table premier league club. I'd love to see him back in England though.

Thoughts exactly, but Gago is still a good midfielder in my opinion, and would be awesome in Italy, as you said.

van der Vaart, and why they aren't looking to sell

It could perhaps to be to do with his wife, I remember when they were trying to sell him in the summer that his wife had cancer, and he was reluctant to do anything to disrupt her treatment.

And I'm sure they will have had interest for him in the summer, and he probably refused to leave for that reason.
