Low accuracy by Di Maria though. Could be 3 or 4-0 by now.

After seeing penalty back it was actually a penalty. Didn't see the heel connection originally, just thought it was for the touch on ADM's shoulder

France can't possibly be that bad again in the 2nd half.
I want France to win, but they haven’t controlled any game since Poland (R16). I don’t know how better they can play in the second half. It may not be enough.

Having said that, they do seem to score these goals out of nowhere, so who knows.

I really like Mac Allister. I’m not sure where he would fit in for us if anywhere but I have really liked his performances this tournament

I think Casemiro sitting with Mac Allister box to box and Bruno as an advanced 8 would be a scary good combination.

Johnny Sins has ruined the final

Yes, Johnny Sins told France to park the bus and have 0 shots on goal. He told Usain Bolt, sorry, Mbappe to be invisible. I see why you fancy France, they are peak Ole ball without the luck.

Kinda gutted this hasn’t been more of a contest. Argentina have been awesome, and it’s not their fault France aren’t at the races, but even after 10 minutes it looked like there could only be one winner.

Argentina could make this embarrassing if they chose to turn the screw. Hoping France get the next goal to at least make things interesting but can’t see it happening.

Just watched it again and thought soft but he does catch Rat Boys left leg. A non defender trying to defend… recipe for disaster against an experienced player

Players as technically good as Alvarez with a work ethic are priceless

France have been shite all knockouts. Can see why Giroud hasn't played top club football for a long time...

Obviously they need the next goal to make this a game. Extra subs might help them.

Penalty was very soft. Argentina getting the breaks, France can't complain much being so poor.

Because it's the final of the world cup.

And 90% of watching wouldn't give that a as a pen.

The least you could do is go and watch it by yourself. Then make the decision.

I'm not squealing. Just stating the facts.

And my hat is woolen.

You’re not though you’re making crap up. The referee sees the contact so it’s not going to VAR. the rules don’t change for the final.

Lost their opening game to Saudi Arabia and were 0-0 in their next two games and in serious danger of heading out. Has to be the worst conspiracy theory ever, you absolute mentalist.

So the more I look at it, it is a penalty. I dislike term soft penalty. Is it a foul or not? It is. Dembele hit Di Maria's foot and Di Maria fell. Dembele should have never attempted a challenge there from behind. It was stupid.

I think it was a pen but it was one of those where Di Maria waited for Dembele to catch him, did him on the wing, slowed down and waited for contact. Unsporting by DiMaria, really stupid by Dembele but a pen for me.

Why is this? He's clearly a class player and an engine on the pitch.

He sucked pretty much every time he played for France lately. On top of that, he isn't a discplined player. He might enter later in the game if we're still unable to create anything in the midfield because "what the hell" but Deschamps doesn't consider him reliable to apply instructions.

Seriously. I'm not sure how good he is technically to be honest as we've mostly seen graft but boy does he put in a shift. Fantastic.

it's a soft penalty but it's not a scandalous decision. i think arg/messi have been lucky, but again, outside the poland penalty which he missed anyway, there's not a single one that was definitely wrong, all just different shades of maybe.

for what it's worth, this is what france got, in the final, last time around:
(around 4:00 in)

also not an egregiously wrong one, but, before the recent handball changes, a very very soft one

That Griezmann dive before France's 1st goal

I wonder if the Virus thing is affecting France. They looking so bad, no energy, disinterested. The first pen (a bit soft) is changing the game.

Regarding the Messi vs Ronaldo debate, it's fair to say that Messi is the superior player regardless of the World Cup win. I think Ronaldo fans (not fanboys) can take satisfaction that he was ever in that debate.
There is no denying that Messi is the best but it's just that the rest of the Argentine team are rats. They are a pack of cheating cnuts and I just can't see past that to give Messi the respect he deserves for finally winning his WC.
