The Fifth Redcafe Sheep Draft

Looking forward to the results of this round. Reckon quite a few will get away with top level players and quite a few will get sheep. No middle ground this time.

This round means: 'take any GOAT but the price to pay is to recruit a guy of the same family'.

The options were almost unlimited.

Indeed. One problem with sheep drafts at times is early rounds give you squaddies and by the time THE guy to build around is an option he is inconsistent with prior picks.

The idea with these first rounds was giving an opportunity to nail colours on a mast and build around that thereafter. Downside is it could make future picks more predictable, but often I find half the managers lose interest because they feel nothing for the ragged band they are assorting.

We'll see.

The pick of Gio isn't really surprising when we know how he rates Brian

Most obvious sheep draft pick ever. He was lucky I wasn't playing. No chance I was letting him get away with that, not after endless bluffs and double bluff posts.

If managers can get past the first round without playing the GOAT pick, the GOAT is essentially a free reinforcement in the 2nd round

Yes, but it leaves little room for error from R1. Look at EAP, he may have to play with 10.

Yeah I know, but if I got a fail for this round I have to field a sheep for sure not to mention another waste of a pick as a sub. It's better to have a sheep that isn't counted as such and waste two subs for the first game rather already having to field a sheep in the starting 11.

Love this. Read it three times and still have no idea what you are getting at. You wanted no puzzles so we just went with MENSA levels of puzzling mechanics.

Current one is great, by the way.

Some truly hilarious roles/movies involved too. If you play your cards right you can land players who a) are pure gold and b) starred in absolutely ridiculous productions.

Yeah, the lads have cooked up quite a few which should be a laugh to research. I'm sure some are building up a list of terrible stuff to watch.

Buzzing with that can go to sleep a happy kidda now.

@antohan to be fair was little drunk when I wrote it. Rereading it I'm not sure what I was getting at either.

Great to have a pass on this one.

You meant you would rather pick a "donkey" that you can put as a sub, rather than been assigned actual sheep that would either fill the quota on the bench, or have to play. Doesn't work with R1 criteria, but I know what you were getting at. Maybe

Aye sounds right. Wasn't that ingenious at the end tho as everyone else did the same in R3...

I don’t know if I am super happy with our pick or nervous that some obvious picks must have got through :nervous::D

Or maybe there'll be some gems in the 2nd and 3rd picks if someone's willing to gamble

True, expect all 16 to get a great pick in this round.
But with 11 passes, the chance of failing in the 2nd and 3rd round is high too.

Where are we on pick 2? Thought this would be a short round with only 5 left.

Rafael is a great sheep to have, better in my opinion than Gary Neville, contributed more to a title than Neville ever did. I would be delighted to have such a sheep

A lot hinges IMO on how relaxed the draft committee were with the criteria.

Even with that it's a bit surprising at the many passes.

I for one thought we both would've clashed in this round with our picks. Probably half of those picks were "safe" but I guess we'll see in the next hours when the results are up.

Loads of GOATs went through 100%

Good to know, thanks.

I thought harms would have targeted Rijkard instead of Enigma_87 who knows well him.

Mind you, there was that one time when someone managed to sneak a clearly dodgy case past the committee...but that works well too, for the laughs and meltdowns.
I did that if I remember correctly.
That was the photoshopped Ibrahimovic shot. Have to hold our hands up there on behalf of the committee, we were done good and proper.
