The F1 Thread 2015 Season

He's dumbstruck

The fecking balls on Rosberg to lap it up too  This is gonna be damaging to the team again, Monaco 2014 last year, Monaco 2015 this year. All year long Hamilton is gonna remember that one, I suspect any chance he gets to screw Rosberg he will take.

Riccardio was a lot faster, so Kyvatt pulled over to give him a shot at Hamilton and Vettel, rather than hold him up, with the understanding that if he didn't overtake one of them he would give the place back (with the chicane on the last lap being the obvious cut off point)
Ah right thanks for that.

Did Seb just pat Lewis on the back then and say "You won"? Says a lot of Nico when even Seb looks embarrassed for him. It is entertaining though, classic bad guy move ha.

13 races to go, still leading the championship. No point chucking the toys out the pram but he won't forget that one, he won't do anything but look out for himself the rest of the way.

Mercedes are one of the worst teams on the grid for strategy though, if Ferrari get real close they will force them into further panic.

I think Martin Brundle said he had dirt in his eye last year, it'll be a tear in his eye this year... He must be fecking livid and rightly so.

 Brundle is fantastic.

I liked his one earlier too when Crofty said about their boat in the harbor and Brundle says something like "nobody will nick it, I've sawed both oars in half".

 Brilliant. Yesterday he was in a GP2 car I think and as he got to the swimming pool he said something like "this is where I nearly killed myself in 1984."

To be fair he did

He's full of gems every race, great entertainment.

Someone used to document all his gems  I'm gonna lose myself in them for abit.

Liz Hurley: “We’re going up to the first corner for the take-off, whatever they call it here.”
Martin (dryly): “It’s called the Start.”

It's already good!

Shit, what a crash for Verstappen. Gutted, he was doing quite well. Anyone think Grosjean slammed the breaks a bit early or am I just trying to make up excuses? What a bunch of knobends in the Merc strategy team too, such a weird call to get Lewis in at that point of time.

He was on really old tyres so his braking point would be a lot earlier than Verstappen. Watching it back I just think Max went to do his move a bit too late and misjudged it, it happens.

Caught the last 15 laps or so of this before our game today. Hamilton was royally fecked by Mercedes. It's unbelievable how much they messed it up. Wouldn't be surprised to see him second guess and question team orders for the rest of the season now.

Yeah that makes sense. He was claiming that Grosjean banged the brakes way to early and he even went in a bit early too, but I think it's just a bad judgement call. Shame, really.

Apparently on the cool down lap when he stopped he wanted to do a Senna and go straight home but the team told him it would DSQ him. Probably bollocks but it did look like it at the time.

I'm absolutely fuming for Hamilton. He was 20 seconds ahead of that prick, who then makes the most of an 8 lap lead at the end and celebrates like he drove the race of his life.

Bet that contract extension feels special now Lewis..

I guess there's a certain irony to the fact that if he hadn't built up such a massive gap they probably would never have even thought about calling him in.

lots of things in the press about the race , this is one of the reason put forward, has to why they pitted him.

One theory suggested maps, not maths, was at the root of it all: a German team pulling for a German driver in front of German board members, rather than for the Brit'.

I don't think the controversy and the fact everyone knows the victory was 'stolen' from Hamilton makes this worthwhile in any way.

Yea I'm not buying that for a minute. Lewis is their golden boy, and it'd make more sense to show the board that the new mega contract they gave him was worth it.

It seems pretty obvious that they just got it wrong with the change to virtual SC then actual SC. They don't have the usual GPS system at Monaco for proper track positioning, apparently, so they just got it wrong.

I only got home for the ending (basically the exact moment Verstappen crashed). If it wasn't for the safety car, would Rosberg and Vettel have had to pit?
Nope.

Good timing by the way, until that point it was the worst race ever.

Wow they really messed up then. I assumed that people were mad due to them bringing in Hamilton first and not anticipating a safety car. That is a major mess up. Overtaking in Monaco is impossible anyway.

Vettel even made the comment that on worn out softs and cold tyres, it would have been "like swimming with weights on your legs". Even with this fact and Hamilton on brand new super softs, Lewis couldn't overtake Vettel when he was supposed to have such a huge advantage. If this happened then, what would have been the chance of Rosberg overtaking Hamilton when he couldn't ever get close to him on similar tyres? This farce just shows backs up Mercedes as being the worst strategists out of the top teams by a considerable distance; they have now lost several races for Hamilton due to their decision making, and I imagine the chief strategist has been shitting himself ever since.
