The F1 Thread 2013 Season

One the best looking cars for 2013.

I'm actually slightly disappointed with how it looks, simply because the BBC has this picture at the top of its article:

It makes it appear as if the car is streaked with blue, which personally I actually thought was beautiful. I was disappointed when I found out it was only shadows and it's just plain silver.

Not that it's not a nice-looking car still, though.

Gary Anderson doesn't seem to like it, the developments anyway.

I think the livery looks great though.

Day 1 of testing on now.

Already from the BBC - We have our first red flag of the day as the McLaren of Jenson Button stops on the track just after turn three with what appears to be a mechanical fault with the MP4-28. Not a great start for the 2009 world champion.

Even in testing the first red flag had to be a Mclaren. Rosberg in the Merc just got a red flag, not a great start for the top teams so far.

Is there anyway of streaming this or getting the lap times?

timings so far.

Timesheet @ 10.00am (UK time)
1. Rosberg 1:20.846; 2. Maldonado 1:21.215 (2012 car); 3. Ricciardo 1:21.316; 4. Hulkenberg 1:21.553; 5. Massa 1:21.598; 6. Webber 1:22.959; 7. Van der Garde 1:24.994; 8. Chilton 1:25.176.

Hope they can solve this fuel pump issue, caused a couple of DNF last season. Fire on Rosberg car was caused by electrics. Marussia have unveiled their car, they really could do with a couple of sponsors.

Paul di Resta has taken over at the top of the times in the last few moments - the Scot ensuring he reaches the mid-session mark on top with a 1:20.343. It's certainly been a promising morning for Force India.

Caterham may as well have put last years car out, clearly they'll be starting on their 2014 car as soon as the lights go out in Australia.

Marussia's car will have more sponsors once they get their second driver on board.

Brunno Senna wont be racing in F1 next year, signs a deal to join Aston Martin in the WEC

Was it mechanical or driver error? Not a lot of damage so they should be back out soon, think it just needs a new nose.

straight from Sky.

The fact Hamilton literally went straight on off the road and into the barrier would seem to point to a mechanical issue, but certainly it's all speculation at this stage until we find out from Mercedes later.

More from Sky

It looks like mechanical.

Hamilton's rear brake failure will take quite a bit of time to investigate and repair, don't expect him to be back out anytime soon

Ahaha, feck you Hamilton. I hope that happens on the opening lap of every single race this season.

Mercedes actually look decent today and with the huge lap count they clearly have reliability in there too now they are getting on top of their issues.

The burnt bodywork is a worry though, seems like a Mercedes trait over the past few years and its not even particularly hot in Jerez, the car would melt in Bahrain. I still think they will update that exhaust area though, its still quite basic looking in comparison to others.

Button has stopped on the track again.

It was down to an electrical fire on the first day of testing.

I thought that was more towards the rear of the car though? That appears to be where the exhaust is exiting internally. But yeah it may be that, I haven't really been taking too much notice of the images.
