woo hoo most points this race for me
and I missed the race got home from work at 6am set alarm and the bloody thing never went off.

Fantastic race.

Webber had the best strategy purely by accident. Start 18th but have extra sets of fresh tires. Its also what won the race for Lewis.

I reckon we'll see more teams sacrifice grid slots for the extra set of tires.

What a stunning race ,best I have seen for a while.
Hamilton drove an almost perfect race and proves that Vettel can be beaten.
But the best of the day has to be Webber , what a race he drove at one stage he was struggling and could not get any grip.
If both Red Bulls had there KERS working the race result would of been different.

Not so sure about that. Maybe in Webber's situation it might have but Vettel's 2 stop strategy would have still had his tyres going off before the end of the race.

Brilliant entertainment and I'm chuffed for Lewis and Webber.

Getting excited as Monaco is getting nearer and I will be there!!! Can't wait!

Long break until the next race then, so I'm gonna post two of my favorite short F1 youtube clips.

This agreement says that the sport should be shown on free-to-air television where possible.

However, the current agreement runs out at the end of 2012, and the signatories are in the process of negotiating a new one.

The BBC currently has the broadcasting rights to F1 until 2013.

This is part of a story on BBC , this could spell the end of free to air F1.
I can see this being another sport going to SKY or maybe a dedicated F1 channel.
I have no idea how much BBC pay for it now.

Bernie tried an F1 PPV channel before didn't he and it was an unmitigated failure.

I hope to hell it stays on BBC, Sky would be even worse than ITV for adverts.

I'd have some faith that Sky would put the customer first

I'd hope for a Soccer Saturday type set up if they did get it, where we can still see the race as we're advertised too

I would hope that if Sky did get it there would be no adverts during the race and qualifying.
I am right in saying that F1 provide the TV coverage for all the practice and qualifying and the race , so all anybody could do would be pay for the right to show that.

The worldwide feed is the same for everybody and is provided by FOM, with a director in each country responsible for what is actually shown.

That didn't stop ITV from putting adverts on every 5 minutes (literally).

The current BBC setup is perfect for F1, great commentary team and pre-race buildup, online streaming and BBC Red Button for Free Practice and Quali/Races in free HD.

I really hope it doesn't switch for years.

Part of the reason F1 is so popular in this country is that its always been free to air

I had to subscribe to Viasat in Sweden to watch it. I was actually surprised how well I followed F1 not understanding the commentary over there, it's an acquired skill!

Speaking of commentary; I've been pleasantly surprised by DC so far this season.

I never liked him as a driver, he grew on me as a pundit, and now he's done it again by being a very good second commentator.

Yeah DC has been suprisingly good, its amazing how much a difference it makes having two people in the commentary box that actually gel. You get it with Crofty & Davidson and now Brundle & DC.

Brundle has worked out very well as the main man too.

He did an interview with John Inverdale on some BBC program many years ago when he was still a driver in his prime for McClaren. Was so good I still remember it (well, mostly!)

He knows his stuff back to front like Brundle, I never had any doubt it would be better than the dross Legard came out with

That said, there's a few set piece lines Brundle is coming out with that he's clearly written down before hand, he either needs to sell it more convincingly or go with his gut. Know its a change in dynamic for him, so hope he cuts that out soon enough

He only really does that at the beginning of the sessions though doesn't he and at the start, after that its all natural.

Murray/Brundle won't ever be matched for me, that pairing with Murray's enthusiasm and Brundle's dry wit was so good it didn't matter if the racing was dull which lets be honest during the Schumacher era in the 00's it was alot.

I've watched F1 in Spain quite a lot, and when it goes to adverts there, the race is shown in a small box in the top right corner. It works quite well, though obviously BBC's coverage is amazing right now

Woah!!!

Easy tiger. Murray Walker will have you for that. Him and Brundle were a tour de force, and before that Murray and Hunt

agree with this , Murray Walker will never be beaten not only did he know F1 very very well ,some of the slip ups he did just had me in stitches .
But I also agree that the current line up is excellent , they all know what they are talking about and you have Eddie Jordan who just makes me piss with this questions.

Hmm...

Sebastian Vettel is in the same league as triple world champion Ayrton Senna, according to Toro Rosso director Giorgio Ascanelli.

Ascanelli worked with Vettel during his time at Toro Rosso in 2007 and 2008, and had previously worked with Senna in his McLaren days. Having been able to see both of the drivers at close quarters, Ascanelli said that they both delivered "perfection", while also adding that seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher - who he worked alongside at Ferrari - was less naturally gifted then either Vettel or Senna.

"I am very lucky," Ascabelli told Sport Bild. "Twice in my life I have experienced perfection; once with Senna, again with Vettel. In one respect Michael was different because he had to work harder for his success than did Senna and Vettel. With those two it was something else."

Tough to judge such things when Vettel has the best car, and his team mate isn't one of the other very top drivers in the field

I thought Vettel made very hard work of last season, given his car he should have dominated, and he came good at the end, but for a while it looked like he was chucking away a brilliant championship chance

Far too early in his career to make such comparisons anyway

Had to go there didnt you make this about Lewis anyway wasnt long ago Hamilton Alonso before him were put in the same league as Senna. I think it pretty ridiculous from the Toro Rosso boss to point owned by Red Bull to put anyone in that league.

Bollocks sensationalist comments that do no good for a young driver. Hamilton had the same kind of crap because of his idolising of Senna. Just let them be themselves and create their own legacies, comparisons like this are daft. Especially, as Brad said, at such an early point in his career.

Why does every driver have to compare to Senna, why can't they just be their own driver. Senna was great, fantastic but he was also ruthless and bit of a cnut, I think he would be the modern day Hamilton in terms of critics and fanboys.

But don't compare drivers from different era's because its pointless drivel they write when its a slow news day in the sport. For the record Vettel has alot more to prove before he is considered the very best in F1, namely have a team mate not called Webber or Bourdais.

This is going to be one humongous thread by the end of the season. We are already on page 28 and 1120 posts after just three races.
