The F1 Thread 2010 Season

Street circuits make for horrible races, and that includes Singapore I am afraid!

Wasn't such a long time ago in F1 that Monaco was the only street circuit on the calendar

Agreed, but obviously with an exception of Monaco. No more street circuits please.

The cheat is back eh

A shame his original partner in crime Briatore has been banished from the sport

Makes you wonder if they discussed it behind closed doors all those years ago...

I loved Damon Hill, but I can't help but appreciate Schumacher. F1 is better with him than without. Hope Mercedes gets him a good car. Would love to see him beating the crap out of some of the younger drivers.

Will be very interesting to see how he does. Rosberg must be a little worried at how he'll be treated after Michael's history with Ross.

It's gonna be interesting thats for sure. Personally I can't wait for Team Britain vs Team Germany, although thats dependant on cars ofcourse. Hamilton and Schumacher on the same track is exciting though.

Nothing would delight me more if Hamilton stepped up his game this year & put Schumacher to the sword.

You think that would be some kind of evidence of anything?

Schumacher has nothing to lose really, if he comes back and doesn't do too well then it's no big mystery, the guy is 41! But if he comes back and wins then it's insane. Hamilton beating him next year really wouldn't be any indication of anything; Lewis was born a few years too late to really be tested against the best Schumacher had to offer.

I don't think it would indicate anything, world championships is what proves the drivers worth. Hamilton has a long way to go before even attempting to emulate Schumacher. I often see those two as master & apprentice, Hamilton has the potential to become bigger than Schumacher.

As a McLaren fan, i got tiresome of his jawline dominating the camera from win after win with Ferrari  So i guess Hamilton putting him to the sword would certainly go some way to getting revenge (if you can call it that).

Without doubt though, Schumacher's inclusion has probably made next season one of the most exciting ones in history.

Yeh, I'm looking forward to it already.

Should be a good four way battle, as you've got to think that McLaren and Ferrari will have a car this year, and seeing as Mercedes and Red Bull already had the best.

Hopefully the new teams will add something, could be an interesting battle near the back of the field as well as the front

Good to see Schumi making a comeback - greatest driver there's been. Will be a great season next year.

Sure has, I'm really looking forward to it, it's shaping up for be very entertaining.

Greatest driver ever makes the come back... this coming year should be exciting.

What price will I get for him to win the championship?

Over inflated odd's im sure, the wise bets are on the Red Bulls i think this year

He's going to get creamed

Creamed by who exactly?

He's fitter, stronger & faster then nearly every driver on the grid. The reason why he can compete at his age is because of his desire to be the best and he takes the Ronaldo style route of his body is a temple. When its business time he doesn't feck about and unlike nearly every driver on the grid, he's got nothing to prove. Coming back and losing doesn't wipe away Spain 96, Spa 95, Imola 03, Brazil 06 and countless more races where he wiped the rest of the field away like a dirty arse. If anything, it really should be Rosberg & Hamilton fans that should be worried. If they fail to beat him, how does that look? Bunch of hotshots who realistically are entering the prime of their careers can't beat a 41 year old?
Alonso has nothing to prove against Schumacher and he's really the only immune driver. The biggest test of the season goes for Felipe Massa in retrospect.

Some of you people 'except for Brad' are so quick to forget, just how far Michael will go to win. He's not coming back for second best.

Some of us bitterly refuse to forget! :smirk:

He's back to win, and if he's in a reasonably competitive car, I'm sure he will at least take a race. And if the car is good enough, I'd expect him to put up a title challenge. You know he'll be fitter than most drivers despite his age, and there's no way I'm writing off a driver of that proven quality

That said I do think there are much better drivers in F1 now than when he left the sport originally. So it promises to be a cracking season

Mentally maybe, physically i doubt it.

Then you don't know just how much of a machine he really is. He revolutionized fitness in f1. It's because of him that f1 drivers are now some of the fittest athletes on the planet. The likes of Mansell and Prost 'while fit in their respective right at their peaks' would barely last a full race distance in the current cars 'or those of the past decade' and if they did, would be somewhere down the lower order.

It's funny how youtubers comment on how hard the old cars were to drive compared to the new ones. The older cars has massive wide sticky tyres and minimal downforce 'slower corner speeds'. The cars were twitchy due to the massive horsepower, but in reality, the physical requirement was nothing like today.

I hope Schumi wipes the floor with that arrogant asshole Lewis Hamilton.

You're talking again about history/legacy. The present day is what i'm talking about. Mentally he's up there, but physically i doubt it, he's a 41 year old man, no matter how much fitness you put in you'll never have the body of a 20 year old.

However i don't know why i'm discussing the point, you think the sun shines out of Schumachers arse, even if it does make some rather 'honeymoon-esque' comments ;)

Button in his new threads for 2010:

Get that top button done up and get a shave, your at McLaren now

some interesting odds around for next season

massa is ranging from 15/2 to 9/1
button ranging from 13/2 to 10/1
vettel 11/2 to 6/1
schumacher 4/1 to 5/1
alonso 3/1 to 4/1
hamilton to 5/2 to 3/1

the button odds at 10/1 seem generous... so does massa at 9/1 considering button is the current champion and alonso is new to ferrari...

The smart money is on the Red Bulls for next year. They've been quiet in the post season & kept under the media radar.

The smart money is on waiting until testing starts, nobody knows anything until then.

I don't think testing is going to highlight any major revelations that we don't know already.

Red Bulls had the quickest car towards the end of the season, with the best F1 designer on board and only a full tank of fuel to worry about then it adds up to me as being a very competitive package.

Of course you can wait till testing, but then the odd's will become worse, but i guess if you're playing the safe bet then the testing is your guidebook.

People got good odds on Jenson winning last season even after the final test, as much as last season shows who might be quick its pretty much guesswork until they roll out a few times and even then its not a true reflection of pace.

Ruling was by a French court and FIA are appealing apparently.

Not sure what the rational behind the decision is, just heard the headline.

Button, Hamilton, Rosberg, Schumacher, Vettel, Webber, Massa, Alonso, Barrichello and Kubica all on the same grid. This has the potential to be the best season ever.

Apart from Schumacher they were all there last year, just adding him back doesn't really give it the potential to be the best ever!

I'm still a little dubious as to how the lack of refueling is going to work out given the difficulties the aero creates for overtaking. It could in fact end up being the most processional season ever.
