Also, why are matches limited despite the fact he's carrying a lantern that seems to never go out, and why does a knife to the head immediately kill zombies despite them walking around with blades impaling their brains.
Tango Gameworks - studio set up by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, its their first game.
I got my copy today. So looking forward to giving it a try despite the mixed reviews.
I've heard better things about Mordor. I can't comment on it as I don't have it.It's between this and Shadow of Morder tomorrow. Still can't make up my mind..
Yes, it's largely turd. Like I say though, at least they have got the shadows reasonably right *cough*Alien*cough*.
The shooting is wank isn't it? And how come you can blow half their brain away and they come at you, yet a simple knife in the back of the head kills them? It's incredibly inconsistent all over. Though the enemy models are at least a little interesting.
The models are actually a load of shite and make no sense IMO. Granted its a horror game and you can ignore the realism aspect but it makes no sense that a knife to the back of the head kills them despite them walking around with sharp poles impaling their head. In fact very little makes sense in this gameplay or plot wise. Yeah lets not waste our finite matches burning corpses, especially when there's a fecking endless source of fire in the lamp you're carrying out which never seems to go out, because using that would make too much sense right?
It depresses me that this has gotten solid reviews, if this had been released a decade ago it would have been universally lambasted. Just shows how much standards have dropped or how the main review sites have pretty much all transitioned into ad space merchants.
The Evil Within Review (Rant) - Worth a Buy?:Right so I laboured with this for a few more hours and can confirm it's utter shite.
Its like they've tried to collate all horror games into one and have made a royal mess of it. The first chapter tries the whole outlast/Alien game of cat and mouse and the following chapters just seem to poorly follow the resident evil 4 formula of shooting zombies, which would be OK if it's fun but it's not. The horrible controls and glitchy framerate help kill off any enjoyment.
Speaking of which why does this game look like utter shite? It uses the rage engine and on my PC with maxed graphics on 1080p it looks like a PS2 game, utterly disgraceful for an alleged triple A game. Not to mention the appalling frame rate which is just about the scariest thing in this game - that's right, the game isn't scary either. It's full of cheap, horror clichés which are recycled. I also went ahead and Googled the rest of the plot since I couldnt bother to persevere till the end and I'm glad I didn't - what a embarrassing pile of shite, I guessed the direction they were going with from the very beginning and they still managed to botch it up. Not to mention that none of the characters were likeable and had voice acting worse than final fantasy ffs.
Shit game, 4/10 at best.
Started this today
It's fairly average and I'm on chapter 3 only
Will try and stick with it as it's been collecting dust now for the past 10 months
Please tell me it's a very short game
