Bunch of bad eggs aren’t? Mixture of apathetic performances, poor attitude, laziness or just downright difficult personality.

I get the feeling they have this entitled attitude, and it could be down to us rewarding mediocrity with massive bloated contracts. This, plus relative success internationally, seems like it has gone to their heads.

I remember Steven Gerrard saying that everytime he went to England training camp, the English players from Man Utd were a cut above in terms of training, attitude and professionalism. They would stick together off the pitch too as they felt it gave them that competitive edge when international breaks resumed. Lampard and Rio have talked about this extensively when it was us and Chelsea competing year in year out. Seems like we’re so far removed from that ideal with this current bunch.

Rashford - his attitude is awful. Doesn’t look like he tries or cares anymore, and the quality is just not there. The sooner we get him to a new club and replace his minutes with Gakpo/Memphis, we’ll be better for it.

Shaw - 8 seasons at the club and we’ve had maybe, if we’re being generous, 1.5 seasons worth of genuine quality. Average, lazy in his play and doesn’t push himself to be better. I said in another thread, the way he comes across it seems like he sees football as just a job, and doesn’t really want to push himself to be better.

Maguire - he just isn’t good enough. I thought he was good in his first season, ok overall in his second, and a disaster in his third. But for a club captain, and someone that should lead from the front he should be doing a lot better. I genuinely think his overall attitude is good, it’s just his application isn’t great. Also he doesn’t interview at all well, and would be better putting his head down and improving rather than speaking.

Henderson - just a gobshite. Hope he does well at Forest though and they come in with a nice offer of £25m. I wanted him to be our number 1 instead of DdG but it seems he’s burning those bridges with the club.

AWB - I think he’s good enough to play Carabao Cup and Europa group stages, but the overall quality is just not there. He doesn’t seem like a difficult personality unlike the above 4 (seems to have a quiet persona) but yea, he’s pretty poor and the fact that we paid £45m is mental.

Sancho - no complaints. He’s a baller, and I think as this team improves in terms of cohesiveness and overall play, so will he. Also feel that as he spent most of the last 4-5 years in Germany, he‘s a bit removed from it all.

Greenwood - so promising. Wasted his talent and career.

Lingard - thank feck he’s gone.

Interested to hear what others think.

They’re quite shit to be honest. Apart from Sancho (who let’s be honest hasnt light up the place himself), the rest of them have proven themselves to be disappointing
They’re definitely not as good as they believe they are. But you can make up for shitness with a good attitude and trying your best every game. No one will have Dalot in the top bracket of RBs but he comes across as someone who will try his best everytime.

Rashford and Sancho have both worked really hard these last two games, even if the quality wasn't been there today

This slagging of our players is getting tiresome. No evidence presented, just some quote from Gerrard years ago. Rashford and Sancho have put in good shifts these last two matches and ETH clearly values them otherwise he would drop them like he has the others.

Not thinking they are not good enough doesn’t make them ‘bad eggs’.

The only one I like is Sancho. They’re all crap. Would be glad if we got rid of all of them. They are a far cry from when the English players United had were among the best in the country, like Rio, Rooney, Carrick, Scholes etc

Should definitely be getting rid and breaking them up. Shaw should be gone already after so long and such little progress.

Maguire had failed and should be actively looking for a buyer too.

Rashford hasn’t progressed and doesn’t seem to have the desire anymore.

Standards need to be raised and you have to break up groups of entitled players who think they are better than they are in order to do that.

Imagine making this thread after scraping through a low block win against Liverpool with two English scorers and sneaking one out against one of the worst teams in the league. It says more about the OP than anything else.

The evidence has been on the pitch for the last few years. The bad eggs is about their attitude and professionalism.

Shaw being unfit and requiring a new nutritionist.

Henderson slagging us off to the media.

Maguire, the Greece incident and no accountability in his interviews.

In terms of attitude and personality, Maguire and McTominay are good, but they lack talent and ability. AWB I'd probably put in this category too, seems like a nice lad. Sometimes he doesn't position himself well, or doesn't press when he should, or sprint back when he needs to, but I'm not sure if it's due to apathy or just not having the intelligence on the pitch to know what to do when. Could also include a few youngsters who have been moved on, or soon to be moved on, in this category too. Williams, Tuanzebe seem like good characters.

Rashford and Shaw we can certainly question. It's speculative, as we don't really know, and there could be a number of factors more prevelant than a lack of work ethic and professionalism. We don't know how hard they are trying or how professional they are, we can just speculate based on their output and little bits and pieces.

Henderson seems like your typical gobby/opinionated Manc, and I don't actually mind him having a go at the club, it shows he gives a feck. I would however mind if he was acting like a prick behind the scenes whilst at the club, which there were a couple rumours about.

Did you read what I wrote? Did you read what I wrote about Sancho?

I agree with many of your points about the players (although I could do without talking about their nationality)- but the way you completely explain away Sancho's shortcomings having ripped apart some of the others left me a little off balance.

If we are to be balanced about it, as much as he has looked quality in bursts within matches due to his technical quality, his fitness to play a strong 90 mins is borderline disgraceful. That should be a bare minimum for a footballer of his supposed calibre, managers continually have to haul him off as he fades.

He also has to take at least some responsibility for looking the least cohesive player with the team structure at the moment, and probably for all last season. As messy as we are, he stands out as a one man band. He needs to demand more of himself and his teammates.

It's a moronic thread no matter how you slice and dice it because you're attributing a negative connotation to an immutable characteristic i.e. bigotry. Go and look at all the foreign players that we signed since Fergie retired that were catastrophic flops. Will you assign such a negative characteristic to their foreignness?

Big fan of Sancho and this is a completely fair post. The easiest thing to fix is his fitness. Last thing we need is a winger version of Shaw. "World class" for a few games a season.

Prior to last year they have all played fine. The whole team was a shambles last year so why single out those players? How about Ronaldo and Pogba’s antics in the media?

Shaw had his best season for club and country prior to last season.

I didn’t agree with Henderson but clearly he felt slighted at his treatment here.

Maguire, out of form but that’s it. No accountability, WTF does that even mean? Did anyone have any accountability last season?

Just the same old slagging off our players with the same names involved. Getting tiresome.

The English group have been massive trouble at the club. It appears they feel there is a great support for the English players at United and it's impacting how little they care since they will still be rewarded for being so poor and not called out in the media. This sort of leniency is not afforded foreign players and we can see it on the pitch.

God any evidence for how ‘little’ the players care? It seems some of the caf won’t be happy until the players are hung, drawn and quartered in the media.

Difficult to say for some of them whether it’s attitude or shortcoming in talent or just a bad phase.

Maguire for example - I don’t think he has a terrible attitude but think he lacks a little bit of intelligence and is only suited to play in certain types of defensive set ups.

Shaw just seems to go through these periods of bad fitness which causes his form to drop off.

AwB - I do think there may be some attitude issues there.

Sancho - talented player but needs to improve fitness.

Greenwood - idiot and a waste of talent

Henderson - slightly arrogant but don’t think we can definitely say he has a bad attitude.

Lingard - lacks professionalism. Good to get rid

Rashford - going through a bad phase. The penalty miss seems to have started a crisis of confidence which has been exacerbated by injuries. Hopefully he will recover.

A group of losers that think they're winners. The sooner we get rid of this 'core' the better.

He’s from bleeding Carlisle, Brummies are closer to being Manc than he is!

Anyway, I’m glad folk are enjoying a solid away win away from home against a very tough side that we usually draw with by… laying into a group of our own players, the overwhelming majority of which didn’t even step on the pitch.

Maguire, Shaw, Rashford - their attitudes are all wrong. Personally, I think it could be because they've had relative success with England, play for a massive club such as United, and we've rewarded mediocrity with large bloated contracts. Maguire I think will do much better where there is less scrutiny.

AWB - nothing wrong with the attitude, but the quality is just not there.

Sancho - no complaints.

Henderson - bit of a gobshite, but hope he does well as it means we can make a tidy profit.

Does the above sound bigoted to you? If it does, you need to undertake some comprehension courses.

I always assumed he was a local lad

Just checked and he did move to Manchester aged 14, so he's Manc imo. Elanga too.

Hard to evaluate some of them given the turbulence and constant manager swapping we've done over the past decade. But yeah, at least half of them have been underwhelming. The Maguire in particular was a complete waste of money that could've gone elsewhere.
