It was a fun thing to try but has some massive flaws which need to be ironed out.

Not really. He knows he is losing CR for sure. So he doesn't know only 1 position for sure (only 2/3 options for that too).

I'd rather be in his position than at the top if I was playing.

The 2nd pick being quality with many options would have mattered more for me.

Wait for round 2 to end. The limited options can screw up their 2nd reinforcement completely. At least that is how I pictured it.

But at the same time you are losing out on most of the top players by the second round

Tbh it doesn’t matter at which spot you are - each has its own advantages.
Pat can pick 2 great players from a bigger pool, despite no goats.

In my place for example I have the benefit of knowing which player I have to replace, but the pool would be the most limited possible - only the particular team left that might not have the best player available at the position you are looking for or even not have a particular player in that position at all.

There is science behind that, once you contract corona virus, you can't get it again as your body grows immunity. So the reinforcements players can't get it again. Only the unpicked players can.

So my 'reinforcements' are losing Baresi and Nesta and getting Passarella and Desailly. Like the last draft this is more like getting punished for winning your game which makes no sense. If these kinds of shuffling needs to be done then winning teams' best players need to be protected.

Not just that, it is the high predictability of the picks too. You were always going to lose those 2, same with us, Pele was always going to be picked by the 1st manager, losing Cruyff, but going for Messi, etc...

The idea of the round was to force you to change something about your team. If you had changed your priorities and left at least one center back spot for a sheep round, you could've picked an attacker who would've at least balanced the scale.

It's far from a perfect system — as @Jim Beam rightly said, there's a predictability issue.
