The consoles and games thread

I''m still wainting for my xbox 360 to be repaired/replaced by those microsoft bastards.

My mate at work keeps telling me how good Bioshock is.
The cnut.

Hello Weaste.

Where is this gaming thread you keep going on about?

That's it you see, gamers are not interested on the Caf, the ones that do come along like to spam my technology thread instead. The thread needs more people who actually play games rather than theorise about them.

I've been playing R-Type a lot recently, but on my PC using an arcade emulator, so I can't talk about it here. Bye!

I'm an avid gamer. My pc is a few years old now, though, so really modern games no longer work on it (like Bioshock :(). Currently I have World of Warcraft (the biggest time sink ever), Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, GP4: 2007 Update, Football Manager 2007 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on it. I don't have the hard-drive space for any more games :(

I really want to upgrade my pc, though. There's at least three games that have just come out or are coming out that I want: Crysis, Bioshock and Assassin's Creed. Spore looks quality, too. And if I get a newer pc I might finally be able to play Oblivion on full graphics, too, and that looks amazing.

Thing is, though, new hardcore gaming computers cost in the region of £1,300, and as a student I just can't afford that :(

To play Crysis I think that's what you require.

My PC is now 2 years old, it could probably not do it very well, and was top of the range when I bought it (3.8Ghz - single core). It sounds like a helicopter as well when it's busy. :D

been playing tiger woods with the new game face thing, only cos me eyes are really blue it has made me look like I am wearing blue eye shadow

picking up me new poosp on friday when the slim is released

then the wait is on for PES and FIFA

not got it yet, does it use the stupid six axis thing, cant be arsed with that, although the game looks awesome, might have to download it tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about

It's a great game - really enjoyable. It does use Sixaxis, although you can turn it off and use the sticks instead. I found the Sixaxis to be pretty difficult, although I have heard that when mastered, it will give you greater control than the sticks.

But the game is well worth the download - highly recommend it.

For those who do have it, feel free to add my PSN ID - swooshboy

Anybody played Shadowrun yet? More importantly, does it compare to the Snes/Amiga classic?

Also, since we are talking that era, can someone please hit Peter Molyneux with a big plank of wood and tell him it's time for a Syndicate revival!

So, with all this talk of Bioshock and Halo3, why no mention of a game that walks over both in terms of cinematic experiance, gamplay and multiplayer - F.E.A.R?

Truely the only fps to challenge the HalfLife franchise.

The pic is from a comparison of GT5 with PGR4

It seems that Bizarre Creations have agreed to be bought by Activision. This probably means that PGR4 will be the last in the series (so enjoy it) as the name is owned by Microsoft and Activision will now probably want them to go multi-platform. Microsoft could give it to another studio I suppose, but it won't be the same thing.

Interestingly, I went to University with a guy that went to work for them and got quite high up. I wonder if he still works there? Shall have a scan about.

Did you ever try one with a wheel rather than a joypad? Apparently, when these things are put into full simulation cabinets with the wheel, cabinet motion, peddles all giving real type feedback, the experience totally changes.

Too bad I don't have the money to enjoy racers realistically.

I have never knowingly stated anything inaccurate about the XB360. You and Sonymobby were the ones that harped on about this wonderful eDRAM thing (now apparently slightly broken) on Xenos. I always said that it wasn't big enough.

Jesus, I was being sarcastic.

I never said feck all about eDRAM....

Oh come on Weaste, can't you feel the good vibes?
