The comprehensive Ronaldo thread

Possibly but his contract is up in the summer and he's been heavily linked with a move to Miami

It's Messi he's in that Argentina squad no matter what club he's at
He's not moving to MLS anytime soon coming off this WC performance and win.

P$G will offer him all the money in the world not to let it happen soon

Is he alright now? I hope that he doesn't have a complete meltdown now that Messi has won the WC?

Will definitely have thrown his TV remote across the room in absolute disgust as Gonzalo Montiel's penalty hit the back on the net.

Hindsight though.

Moving to Real when they were bringing in prime Mou, prime Kaka and an up and coming benzema was at most a sideway move.

Going to Juve when they were on a 7 SerieA winning streak and was just in the final of the UCL was also a smart move, especially when he thought he will be the one to bring them to the next level.

Ditto for United, finished 2nd and brought in Varane and Sancho, perfect legacy if he can push you guys to a title beating City and Liverpool.

He failed both times, although you can see the logic behind the moves. As it turns out, he just wasn't good enough to propel either team to the next level and both Juventus and United declinrd when he joined.

I find it really weird how Penis Morgan has positioned himself as his no 1 cheerleader just because he did an interview with him. I can't think of other 'journalists' who would double down on sycophancy like this over one interview.

How is this weird? Whatever he's doing it's working well for him.

Before this I only know who he is, now I can't escape him since redcafe make sure I see his latest thought in every Messi or Ronaldo thread. For a guy who thrives on attention and controversal, this is a great move.

Other elements of his vanity may be coming back to bite him too. I remember a few occasions where he insisted on playing in dead rubber fixtures through injury with painkillers just because he was chasing top scorer awards. That sort of idiocy causes long term damage to a body no matter how little Coca-Cola he drinks.

To be honest that level of dedication is kind of admirable.

I wonder if he allowed his girlfriend to celebrate the win?
Or would that be disrespectful?

His exits have been terrible. He left at least 2 CL on the table by moving to Madrid too early and his move to angle was a disaster for everybody involved.
I’ll always wonder what Ronaldo would say about his move to Madrid if he were being honest. For a man chasing records, Balon Dors etc, his move to a rebuilding Madrid has to be a regret. Especially to this Ronaldo.

Honestly he should've just chosen an easy move like Messi. He's never going to look poor in the French league, especially when helped by Neymar and Mbappe. Moving to the Premier League at his age was insane, even if he did still have one good season.

Just because it is working for him to have even more people think he's a wanker doesn't mean it's not weird. If anything it makes it weirder.

I will say, if there was ever a player that can turn the last 2 months around into something positive and do something big, it's him.

Never seen bigger fall from grace.
Bale is another one. At least he enjoyed golfing.

My final image of Ronaldo this world cup is him walking down the tunnel crying. My final image if Messi is him lifting the world cup being dressed in a sith robe

 This guy is fun.

Ronaldo's record of achievements is almost without peer and his name will be sung in fado songs forever, but it must not go without mention that he has acquitted himself disgracefully the last several months. Few of us on the caf can have any idea what it's like to lose a child at birth so a bit of compassion toward the man is warranted, but I can't believe that that tragedy had anything to do with Ronaldo has behaved professionally since then. The fall from grace to disgrace is astonishing and I write this as a caf poster who was defending Ronaldo two months ago here, at least as a realistic alternative to Martial, who's been out with injury almost the entire season.

Just a reminder about how absurd it is to get fired from a football club. That’s never written about enough, it’s almost as if people pretend it’s some mutual parting of the ways. No, Ronaldo set out to get fired and did just that

It was a really bad way to end it the way he did, but I guess he was that desperate to leave, and it's the best result for everyone. others may not agree but I genuinely think losing his child really impacted him and I will personally cut him some slack because of that. And Ofocurse because of all the great memories he's given.

Yes it was totally a kamikaze move.

he was being a dick beforehand, like fecking off to portugal when dropped for the derby under Ralf

Was he even injured when he missed some of those matches? Found it weird how he was suddenly healthy after a few days.

No way man. He probably forbids her from saying the name of You-Know-Who. His mum has banned that name in their household.

Maybe, but I don’t see how losing an infant child causes one to so unprofessionally. We can’t know because we don’t live in that stratosphere, but his fabrication of the myth that the manager disrespected him when in fact even Piers Morgan could see that the manager bent over backward to accommodate Ronaldo calls into serious Ronaldo’s professional judgment and does not allow the conclusion that he was only grieving for the death of his child.

has he posted anything regarding the WC?

No. Has gone radio silent.

Didn't even congratulate Argentina or Messi on their win. Show's what an insufferable prick he is that he can't show a bit of sportsmanship to congratulate the winning team.

Incredible player who has had arguably a top 3 career. Most impressive feat is the fact that he was operating at a level which allowed him to be compared to Messi at all, though. Must be annoying to think he had to play in the same era as a player of that level .

I actually think it’s best time for him to retire from top level football, with WC, which is his ultimate dream. At this age the longer he stay the more likely he would decline and play under shadow of Mbappe. It’s only going to be downhill for him from now.

I always wonder, without Messi he could have won 9 Ballon D’ors. Imagine that, would he be contender for no.1 GOAT then?
