It's funny how a year ago I would have said Messi was the one who was having a fall from grace and Ronaldo would prove himself the GOAT at this World Cup.
It's the end of an era unless Argentina and Portugal meet in the final. Although it's more than likely going to be England and Brazil for me, it would be fun to see these two old bastards going head to head one final time before they bugger off into the sunset.

I just think he is psychologically incapable of putting the team before himself. He is so ridiculously single minded. It's what has made him arguably the goat.
He can't change just cause he'll soon be 38. Looking at it in hindsight, he was never going to retire well. I am not even sure he'll enjoy his achievements.

Makes me think though, how damaging the earlier parts of his career have been to lead to this absolute meltdown.

feel sorry for him not understanding that there does come a time where he wont be the best in the world and he has to adapt with that. It wasn't just Ronaldo. He was part of a fantastic team. But why did we keep on winning after he left? And also why did you not answer why we became dominant after adding vidic and evra? Instead of being so defensive maybe put your ego to the side and read what is being said and you will learn something. Did I do that last part right? You know attacking the messenger instead of the message.
It's almost impossible to keep your sanity and stay at the top for so long in any competitive profession without having that stubborn streak and never-say-die attitude. Some need more time to accept reality. I just hope when he comes to terms with it he'll apologise for being an utter prick during this phase.

I actually think that putting up with this sort of his behavior from everyone around him for ages is what brought him where he is right now.
People have adjusted to whatever he wanted, failing to help him grow emotionally. His behavior should have been nipped in the bud, long before he became what he is now. I mean, it is generally accepted to be the case, but why does it have to be, that certain behavioral traits will be accepted with succesful people, while not so easily accepted from others? I don't believe being a massive egoistical cnut is what made Ronaldo one of the best football players of his era. But everyone brushing it off, accepting to be insulted and accepting to be less valued than Ronaldo as human beings because he is better football player has obviously led to him seeing himself as some sort of demigod in his head.
Nobody, regardless of how talented they were, should be allowed to grow into such selfish person.
