The brilliant analysis by a poster of Bruno Fernandes

Absolutely no worries about any players that have previously demonstrated a very high quality on the pitch. These problems can be reversed with the right coaching and setup, and right now they're suffering because confidence is shot to pieces and because of the low quality of some of the players around them.

It's the players who have barely ever performed to a high standard when we have been riding high or at rock bottom that should be the concern, and there are quite a few of them.
I'd like to share that optimism but I feel that he thrived in a team that sat back and had space to attack in behind the opposition. I havent seen him perform in a game where the opposition makes it difficult for us.

It’s not the “risky passes”, but the misplaced passes and the wild aimless and sliced balls to nowhere that frustrate the most.
That and just giving away possession far too often.
Bruno does like to press and chase down, but it’s often ineffective as he’s hopeless in the physical challenge and can’t tackle.
( like half a dozen others in the first team)
All show and no go.

I think we all hope he returns to the form we saw when he first arrived, but there’s no sign of it happening at the moment.

It wasn't overly positive, but it was bang on. Can anyone link that thread?
I completely disagree with that analysis. I feel it was exaggerated. The other poster had very good counter points.

We lost a game so everyone is the worst player we've ever had ever.
Obviously.

I nominate myself.

I was in the first batch of Bruno 'haters'. I could see right through his stats pretty early on and was one of the posters that caught a lot of flack when you couldn't say a bad word about him on here in 20/21.

He isn't good enough and will be binned off as soon as possible by the manager, I have no doubt about that.

I agree with this. He needs to be free of defensive responsibilities too, because he does damage in the final third. I think he's probably having to compensate for a lack of overall team defending though so feels compelled to track back and "do it all". He would have been a better choice for false 9 against Brighton than Eriksen was I suspect. He does give the ball away infuriatingly often though.
100%. He's not useful in the deeper area at all. You either play him close to the goal with little to none defensive duties, or don't play him at all.

The question we should be asking ourselves: is the setup you're talking about the right for THE TEAM or is it the right setup for THE PLAYER. It was the same under Ole, hence his purple patch, but it will be two different things when Ten Hag wants to shape his team.
He's a player who has specific strengths and can be quite dangerous under some circumstances, but I feel like he will not be a good fit for a progressive manager like ETH. With Bruno in no10 you overload opposition box and can create something out of chaos, but it has a huge burden in terms of how other players need to work defensively around him. This will not fly with Erik IMO, because this will be even more visible in possession based system which seems like another disadvantage for Bruno.

I still haven't found it - can you provide the link?

I think this manager needs to prove/show what he's made of before we make assertions like this. We'd all like to think he will make such calls, but it is easier said than done.

True, sadly. And it’s very much not just him. Fred is maybe the exception, though I never thought he was as bad as most seemed to believe at the start.

What’s even sadder though is that lots of people on here seem to take delight in players struggling, so that they can show off their prescient wisdom by announcing that they “always thought Player X was shite”.

The way of the internet. Would probably happen a lot less if such people's opinions were actually respected in the first place when they voiced them, but typically, they were not. So why wouldn't a poster like myself not point out the irony that others are now bemoaning the EXACT same things that we had mentioned before, only to be laughed at, accused of all sorts of ulterior motives and the like? Perhaps would be fair play for an individual who has spent years arguing passionately with you about something only to then suddenly see it the exact way you see it to acknowledge that fact, but usually it's just a slip away from the debate in silence and never mention it again.
